Best one I've tested so far
After reviewing all these wireless thermometers to use with my smoker, this one has won out. This one seems to have solved all the issues I complained about with the others that seemed like common sense. First of all, not needing to connect my phone and download a stupid app is something I like right away. I'm already suspicious of unneeded apps, like why do I need to install an app to check temp? Second, the range is fantastic. So many of these advertise long range use, but the moment I go inside a lot of them disconnect. The functional range of this thing exceeds any reasonable distance in my home; front yard, back yard, inside the inside bathroom just fine. I haven't fully used the battery life yet, and I've gone for 18 hour smokes, I just charge it every time I use it, which is just USB. Battery life is good. Cleaning is easy, I haven't found that it needs more than occasional wiping down with a degreaser and the probes are just washable like normal, so they're waterproof. The unit is a good size, not too small and not easily lost especially since you can just clip to the refrigerator, but the screen is large and easy to read, which is a huge bonus for me being able to see. Overall it's well built and doesn't feel like it's going to fall apart like a lot of random thermometer brands. One more note if you're considering one of these vs. just a manual probe thermometer. One of the reasons you want to use one of these is because every time you lift the lid, you are severely decreasing the air temperature inside of it, to the point where it has to completely reheat again and throw off your cooking time and give you unstable results. When you use this, you set and leave it until it says you're ready so you maintain that even temperature that's necessary for good BBQ cooking.

It really works!
TL;DR: The fish was cooked perfectly, and it was delicious.I was skeptical about this thermometer- I have a drawer full of thermometers, and have discarded several devices that promised to work remotely, or require a phone app and are more trouble than they are worth. This is different, and way better. It comes in a very nice sturdy case that is used for storage. The device itself is a nice looking black box, with a large screen, a standard USB-C charging port and a power button and 2 probe eject buttons. The probes must have integrated batteries that charge when they are inserted into the device.I tried it tonight on grilled salmon. Removing one (or both) of the probes opens a dialog on the screen. It asks whether you are cooking meat, fish, or fowl, then what kind of fish. then if you want it medium rare, or medium, or whatever. You can also just put in a specific temperature. The probe has to be inserted almost its full length- the insertion line is 3.25 inches from the tip, and the manual is clear that failure to insert fully is not a good thing. I suspect that exposure of more than the last inch on the probe to 600 deg temp is not tolerated. In any event, inserting the probe showed that the fish was cold (I knew that). I put the fish (with probe inserted) on the grill, closed the lid, and hoped for the best. I had a couple of concerns:1. The probe would not tolerate the high temperatures (600-700 deg).2. The signal from the probe would not penetrate the closed lid of the grill (Weber Genesis, their mid-level series). My concerns were unfounded. The probe did fine, relaying the temperature in real time. I had it set to warn me when the temp was 9 deg below target (this can be set to 0 warning, or 9 or 18 degrees). It beeped at 9 degrees below set point, and again at target.I was able to get readings from the probe for a reasonable Bluetooth-compliant distance, even through the double walled metal lid on the grill. Not the 800 feet claimed, or even 80 feet (may be possible n open air), but I went inside the house and the signal remained constant. No complaints after first use. I'll update if needed.

Phenomenal, Wireless, and Genius
Absolutely phenomenal! This thermometer is completely wireless, so you don’t need an app, phone, or complicated setup—just plug in the probes and go. The handheld display is huge, bright, and easy to read from across the yard or kitchen. You can see both probe temps, preset targets, and timers instantly, and it even alarms when your meat hits the perfect temp. The probes are ultra-thin yet durable, can handle high heat, and the base is waterproof and easy to clean. The magnets on the back are a nice touch, letting you stick it on the oven or fridge for safe, handy storage. The dual probes let you monitor two dishes at once, and everything is accurate, fast, and reliable. This is kinda pricey, but the wireless freedom, self-contained display, dual probes, and waterproof build make cooking, grilling, or smoking completely stress-free. Every part feels thoughtfully designed, and it’s absolutely worth it. Genius through and through.
