Strong gripping aid for arthritic hands
Arthritis in my hands has turned the simplest tasks into challenging ordeals when it comes to opening jars, or gripping an irregular-shaped object with strength. I have tried a plastic gripping tool that requires opening its “jaws” to fit the jar, and then turning the handles to also turn the jar lid and pop open the seal. Sometimes this works, but often, even after the jaws are locked onto the jar, it takes too much gripping strength to turn the gadget, and I just can’t do that without a lot of pain, because it puts my hands in a awkward position to hold the plastic turning arms. This product comes to the rescue every time so far, because it can mold easily to the top of the jar lid—no awkward jaws to hold—just a thin silicone sheet that grips super strongly, and doesn’t slip. Each time, just a slight turn made the lip pop and release the seal, and my hand didn’t have to contort, just held the lid with extra strength provided by the silicone material, and turning the jar while I held the lid made it pop, and quickly. I also used this to tear off the thick plastic top of my five gallon filtered water bottle, which has a little tail that you grip and pull in a spiral manner to get the top off before installing into the water cooler. I had tried using a pliers, or a towel, to grip this, but these silicone sheets gave me, again, a solid stable grip on the plastic while turning it, and I had quick success. This is a large set, with two sizes, and I will share a few of these, but they are flexible, and washable, and will last a long time. Bravo!

The grippers arrived in a plastic bag. There was no product information, aside from the product name on the front. They appear to be made of silicone. According to the online product description they are in fact made of food grade silicone, BPA free, and heat resistant. That means you can probably use them to grab a hot surface. I can already see these being handy for grabbing hot things like the tea kettle handle or the instant pot pan.The set comes with 8 pieces. There are 4 circles and 4 squares in the package. I expected them to have a rough surface, but both sides are smooth, one side is matt finish and the other has a glossy finish. They are brightly colored in 8 different colors.I was a little skeptical at first on the size of the circle grippers and that they didn’t have a textured surface. Also, the circle are a little smaller than our vintage gripper. The circle grippers have a 5-inch diameter, and our vintage one is 6 inches. You can see the difference in the photo. The old gripper, pictured in blue under the green gripper.I am happy to report the grippers work like a charm. I was able to get a great grip on the jar I was opening and the 5-inch diameter size was perfect. When they arrived I thought a set of 8 was a bit much but after finding out they were heat resistant they have more applications in my kitchen so I can see value in having a few more on hand.I’m pleased with these grippers. If you’re in the market to get a grip on things in your kitchen these may be a pretty good option for you to consider.

Exactly what you expect!
These jar opener/grippers are fairly straight-forward, as they are essentially thin silicone sheets that will protect your hands and give you extra friction/grip. They work exactly as you would hope, and I like that this set comes with both circles and larger squares.They are simple enough that my 8-year-old is able to open things without my help, which is definitely a plus!The squares are less thick than the circles though, which does make them weaker. In just the week that we have had them, one of the squares has ripped a bit on one side with normal use. That said, it still functions.The colors make them easy to spot in my drawer, and I like how bright and cheery they are!

The other day I went to grab a pickle from the jar and I couldn’t open the jar. The lid was so tight on there and I couldn’t get it to budge! . My husband wasn’t home to help. I searched the house high and low and couldn’t find our jar opener like this. I immediately placed this order for the silicone jar grippers. You never know how useful these are until you really need one and can’t find it!I love that this set includes 8 of them so I should always be able to find one somewhere in the house. I was surprised that these grippers were smooth and not textured. They work great, allowing you to get a firm grip so you can twist a lid off. I only had an issue one time since having them and it wasn’t the grippers fault that I had trouble opening the jar. I grabbed one of the grippers and put it on the jar lid and tried turning and the jar kept slipping in my hand. I decided I needed a better approach. I then grabbed another gripper and used one to hold the jar and another to twist open the lid and that did the trick! It was a good thing that this set included more than one gripper! Overall, these are a great value, especially with the amount of them that are included. I love the bright colors because it makes them easy to find in the kitchen drawer. These are definitely a lifesaver when you have a jar that you just can’t get open!
