Beautiful Cookware For Any Surface; Ovenproof, Non-Stick

This Calmabode 9.5" skillet is a beautiful addition to my cookware. The bottom of the pan is hammered into a gorgeous finish. It arrives pre-seasoned, with instructions to further season as needed after washing and use. This pan has 1.4" straight sides, making it good for sauces, as well as frying and sautéing. I have pan-fried delicious chicken cutlets, which developed a crispy and perfectly browned crust. Eggs made three different ways all turned out beautifully, as well. I'm excited to try a steak soon. I grew up in the South, where cast-iron is a preferred way of cooking, but hesitate to use heavier pans on my glass stove top; happily, this skillet is safe to use and doesn't damage the glass in any way. The only thing I don't like is that the wooden handle doesn't screw on securely and tends to twist slightly when I pick it up...just enough to feel awkward. Time will tell if that worsens with continued use, since the handle has to be removed when the pan is placed in the oven (no instructions to indicate otherwise). As for the pretty wooden lid that comes with the pan, I don't see any use for it. The wood itself is rough around the edges and needs to be sanded for safe handling. Since I assume it will probably absorb moisture, odors, and food stains, it seems to be more decorative than functional. The pan itself is great, though, and well worth the price. I would purchase another in a larger size, if available.

Wow, beautiful hammered finish that can be used on a glass cooktop!

I've had a glass cooktop stove for 15 years and while I do have some LeCrueset and Lodge enameled cast iron pots and pans, I frankly miss the way that non enameled cast iron makes nice crispy crusts on burgers, fried chicken, and pancakes. The enameling doesn't hit as well for the maillard reaction, fellow foodies. But this...THIS pan? Wow.It's hammered and much lighter weight than your normal cast, and the outside resembles my anodized aluminum pans from Calphalon and All Clad (yes, I do have a variety of pots and pans because we love to cook). I'm not so sure about that wooden lid, but I've got others that will fit, so that won't be an issue.Once you get a good thorough, but gentle cleaning of the surface of the pan to get the machine oil off it, coat it with some olive oil and cure it in your oven. You Tube will provide you with many videos. This pan has wonderful heat transfer and for that, it is worth every penny they're charging. If you're going to put it in the oven, you can unscrew the wooden handle. In fact, I recommend doing that.I just wish I'd gotten a bigger one, but this size is perfect for making pancakes or frying two chicken breasts or burgers at a time. The family won't mind waiting when they know they're getting food cooked perfectly.
