This cake stand, or rather, charcuterie board, is the best! The wood quality is perfect. It comes with a brush to clean off any mess, and you can also use it as a board for serving bread rolls. The lid is perfect.
The woodgrain and staining/sealant on this cake tray, along with the extent of variegated “stripes” will obviously vary from piece to piece. Mine had a great variety of juxtaposed colors and patterns, along with a different pattern on each side. The colors on mine ranged from a light pine color to a medium brown.The ability for this product to fulfill 2 common diningware products while only occupying the physical space of 1 is extremely convenient, especially for those of us with smaller living quarters.Since the product description does not clearly state the type of staining used on this product, I do not personally feel comfortable placing any food items in direct contact with the wood; I instead used a cardboard cake tier support underneath the cake, so that it provides invisible protection against unwanted chemicals getting into the food. There’s less concern with chemical wicking for items that are dry, so I’m not concerned about placing chips directly on the platter side, but I will place any dips in small glass dishes and any wet solid foods like fruit or vegetables will be placed on top of a piece of clear wrap so as not to detract from the beauty of the wood showing through underneath.The acrylic lid makes the product more affordable while still giving the look of glass, but I found that without the downward-pressing weight of a heavier material like glass, it does not seem to keep food fresh for quite as long as a glass cover would. Thus, you get the look for less, with the trade-off being a little bit of functionality. Additionally, acrylic is not very robust against normal wear and tear, so to prevent scratching that would render it cloudy and unattractive, the lid should only be carefully hand-washed.

The wood cake stand is warped, and chipped in 2 spots. There's also some glue repair damage that hasn't been sanded down. It also feels really rough like the whole thing needed a good sanding and finishing coat.I was able to fill the chipped parts with wood glue. Hopefully after that dries, some light sanding and finishing coat this will be good for use.
I already have a high quality wood cake pedestal with glass dome, and thought this one would provide some options that the other one does not. Who doesn’t love a charcuterie, right?! It’s fine, but does not fully live up to my expectations.- The wood base is exactly as pictured. On one side is a flat surface with a ridge for the dome to nestle into. What appears to be the pedestal, when inverted, is actually a nice little bowl area. Very, very little. On the underside is a shallow sectioned space surrounding this little bowl area. You could possibly serve small portions of cheese and fruit here.- The plastic dome leaves so much to be desired. First, it will scratch easily, making it unattractive within the first few uses. Second, where the listing shows it inverted as a salad bowl (sitting atop the small bowl mentioned above), that’s not going to happen. Just adjust your expectations and you’ll be fine.- Finally, the small wiping cloth and mini brush are unnecessary. Sure, you might have some crumbs here or there, but there’s really no need to have a cleaning set.Would I purchase this again? Probably not. It serves its functional purpose, will certainly hold up a single layer cake, and does have some versatility. However, I’m not convinced of the diverse choices that were presented in the listing.
