The first time I tried thick/wide straws was from my local burger drive-in who started using them for their milkshakes. I was impressed by what a difference a wider diameter straw makes for enjoying a milkshake so when I saw this re-usable wide straw set, I had to give it a try for home use. The set comes with 10 different fun colors, 2 of each. Also included are 2 cleaning brushes which is a nice practical bonus. The listing claims this set is dishwasher safe, but I don't know that a dishwasher could clean the inside of these straws, so I don't think I'll be testing how safe the dishwasher actually is. You would have to put them in a silverware receptacle which is normally on the lower rack that gets hotter, so the straws could melt. The wider diameter makes it so you can feel more certain you are getting the inside clean by manual washing as it is easy to get water inside to rinse, so to me that is most effective. The plastic is a pretty hard plastic, not bendable, so hopefully will be durable and not crack. As the listing advertises, these straws would be ideal for those who like boba tea, and also for smoothies (and ice slushies) that tend to be a thicker consistency. The ends that go into the cup are diagonal -- I can see this making more sense if you are putting the straw in a plastic slitted lid used at fast food restaurants, but for home use I think a slight spoon on the end would be better. I do think the price is a little on the high side, but then these are re-usable so hopefully will be long lasting making these a great value. I'm very happy to have these. Though the holidays are now over, they would make great stocking stuffers.
My kids are always begging for boba, so I bought them tapioca pearls to make their own at home. When I saw these straws, I knew I had to have them!I like that they come in multiple colors, so I could give each kid their own set. Yes, they each have their own color of multiple things so they are responsible for taking care of it themselves. We have 8 people in our house, so we definitely need that many color options. These are made of sturdy plastic that's not too thick, and were easy to wash. I was really happy to see they came with brushes, it makes cleaning so much easier than trying to use the skinny brush I have for my regular reusable straws. I am a sucker for reusable products, one for the cost, but also for trying to do my part for the environment. I am sure we will get many uses out of these, and help keep things out of the landfill! The straw was just the right size for us, we usually order a small or medium boba when we go out, so even if we use them for restaurant purchased tea they are perfect. At home we tend to drink out of 12-16 oz glasses, and these were just the right length. My teen recently got into making himself smoothies, and these are great for those too!The straws were $15.69 when I ordered them, which I think is a fair price.
These extra thick straws came in a large assortment. The pros are as follows:1. These straws are reusable.2. They are dishwasher safe, yes, dishwasher safe plastic!!3. They came in a variety of nice colors.4. Two cleaning brushes were sent along with the straws. A thoughtful tool that might otherwise be hard to find.5. They are PBA free.6. The bottoms are cut at an angle ( which allows for thicker drinks to flow more easily, then if pressed to the glass bottom with a straight cut design).A small but thoughtful feature.7. They are reasonably priced for all you get.8. They are about twice the thickness of regular straws to accommodate thick shakes and smoothies more easily. The Cons:1. The only real Con on these is that they are not flexible. Perhaps that is done to keep them easy to clean with less grooves for residue to collect in. Not a huge issue, but you do have to tilt the glass as the straw does not bend.
Thick, hard material that stands up to repeated use and even being shipped unpackaged, without protection.Nice color assortment, and the included cleaning straws clean the straws with no issue. These are great for boba and drinks like strawberry lemonade with fruit pieces in it.They're the prefect length to fit in most cups and seem like they'll last.Exactly what I wanted!
I'm super delighted with these straws. I got them specifically for my smoothies. It's not easy to find such straws. These don't collapse when drinking the thickest smoothie. It's nice that they are reusable, and are thick and durable enough to handwash several times. I'm super happy they included pipe brushes big enough to clean these real good. One end has a somewhat sharp/angled point so they don't stick to the bottom of my cup when I'm sucking up my smoothie. They work great in all respects. It's great they come in all these colors. They even look pretty just sitting in my straw holder. I think 20 count is a perfect size of a pack for personal use. These are technically disposable. You can wash them several times, but eventually you can tell they're done. A 20 count should last me two years or longer.
These straws are not only perfect for boba, but smoothies and ice cream floats as well. They're sturdy, durable and I love the assortment of colors. The angled tips help to make sure you get every drop. They're easy to clean and came with wire brushes to help clean them out if there's anything a little stubborn like chocolate sauce. Though I've found if I rinse them right away, nothing really gets stuck inside.I think for 20 reusable straws and 2 cleaning brushes, that the $14 price tag is fair. The only color straw I probably will not use are the black ones because you can't see if they're ever truly clean. I might just use them for regular drinks.
