This is a nice apple corer / slicer. It works well, but some muscle power is needed for fresh, crisp apples. It does take up some extra room for storage when not in use due to it's size being larger, but it more than makes up for that with it being safer to use because your fingers are not exposed to the blades when using it. I've learned the hard way with gadgets for chopping and slicing so I'm always happy when something proves to be safer to use, like this one does. Extra safety feature is that it will not slip on the countertop as it has a silicone ring around the bottom of it that holds it in place. It's pretty straight forward for how to use it and so that makes it easy. If you make sure of the alignment of the handles with the upright part on the bottom, there isn't any trouble with it lining up to cut completely through the apple, or whatever you are cutting. As for cleaning, that is easy too, again due to the size and that it can be fully disassembled by gentling pulling downward on the bottom ridge of the blade ring at the bottom. It is fitted into grooves, but will slide out fairly easy.This is a nice apple slicer with great safety features and I can recommend it.

Will Not Be Going Back to the Cheap Red One

This works great for slicing apples. Much easier to use than the store bought red ones. It is very sharp, relatively easy to clean, works well for large or small apples, is quite durable (I was able to put quite a bit of weight on it without fear of breaking it), and well worth the price.

The knives didn't seem very sharp

The jury is still out on this apple corer and slicer. I like the design and the number of apple slices you get. I think the design makes it safer than the old fashion ones. These are the things I really like, however the knives that slice the apple into wedges didn't seem very sharp. I had to really push down hard for it to slice my apple. I am sure it works good for softer foods.

Keeps your fingers safe; blades could be sharper.

This apple slicer is great for one thing — protecting your fingers while slicing up an apple.Typical apple slicers tend to be flat with handles on the side for holding it, the downside being that it’s easy enough for you to stick a finger out under the blades. But this one raises up the handles above the blades so that it's practically impossible for your fingers to get caught underneath them.However, the blades aren't that sharp; I had to apply a lot of pressure to get through a medium-sized apple.You also have to align the blade component with the bottom half of it; otherwise, the top part won't slide down all the way.Another thing you may want to consider is the size of this apple slicer — it won't fit easily into a drawer due to its size.Overall, this isn't a terrible product. If the blades were sharper and there were more visible cues as to how to line up the top and the bottom, this would be perfect.If your number one concern is safety, then by all means, get this.
