Great purchase. The pot and base are of very good quality. I would recommend this product.
Good ironcast quality, you just need to melt the cheese in the stove and it keeps cheese warm and with nice texture for long time and not sticking to the pot. You can graduate the flame intensity, that its highly appreciated. I loved it! Would buy it again :)
Love this pot. Bought 4 gave one as a gift. We do fondue parties for the family. 2 cheese fondues and a chocolate. I love cast iron which is why it caught my eye. I didn't want electric because I didn't want the restriction of a cord and I wanted the authenticity of a real fondue experience. I am a caterer so I always have sterno gel on hand. I take one container of gel and spoon it into each holder of the pots and that's plenty because you don't need alot. The best part is that you can melt your cheeses or chocolate right on your stove in this pot and then transfer it to the table. I recommend turning your sternos down as low as possible because once the fondue of hot it doesn't require high heat plus it can stick. But even if it does stick i just use a scotch Brite with light Scrubbing and it comes up easy. Rub them with a little oil before storage and good to go. Enjoy.
The cast iron pot provides weight for safety against movement and potential fire issue it’s tough enough to use on the stove top to make the fondue and then transfer to the stand to keep warm and serve. The fondue forks are a bit flimsy; would have been great to match the quality of the pot & stand. Overall a great value; I bought 2 for each end of the table for easy access of party guests who loved the chocolate fondue on Valentine’s Day!
It's well built and nicely sized. But it fails. And thus my one star. I so wanted to like this but I cannot give it any plusses since it just doesn't work. Why you say? Because as others have noted, it gets nowhere near hot enough, even when pre-heating on the stove. I tried the included gel type burner, tried another similar style alcohol burner, and even sterno. Nothing kept this hot enough to do meat fondue and barely kept chocolate in a somewhat liquid state. I've even tried looking at the little butane burners but they are all too tall to fit underneath and no way I want to prop up a pot of boiling oil just so it fits. Currently I'm looking at the tiny little butane camp stoves but most of them are too hot and have too wide a flame, and are just a little too tall requiring modification. Too bad.
The bowl is not very deeper
