Quality. Ease of use.
It doesn't take up much room in a drawer. It's easier to clean than a mesh strainer. If you've ever tried to drain the excess fluid from a sauce pan or skillet by holding the lid "just right"... It would have been a lot easier with one of these.
I tried to replace an original plastic version of this which I could not find. This does the job and is solid. It’s sharp on the far edge though which will certainly cut me at some point because these kind of issues always seems to get me washing the dishes. Good product.
This strainer has an oval shaped handle rather than a round one, which I bought first and then returned. It’s much easier to hold on to. It also has projections on both sides so it works right or left handed. Because my sink has a divider between the two sides, I prefer to hold the pot in my left hand and resting on the divider and the strainer in my right hand. This strainer works for that.
It nearly bent in half after first use. Do not buy.
My mother had one of these when I was a kid in the 70s and 80s and we used it all the time! I wish I remembered the brand. When I saw this on Amazon (and all the competitors) I was excited and purchased it. It arrived and when I was unpackaging it, I immediately felt how flimsy this is. The metal strainer is so thin and bendy. I had to be careful even washing it. My mother's was much better quality. I'll bet she still has it. Maybe I should have just borrowed that!
