Elegant and accurate slicer
This is a lovely, high-quality bamboo cutting guide. You DO need an extra-long knife for sourdough or other artisan loaves. My bread knife has only about an 8" blade and I have to cut slices in two steps, from each side. But assembly is super-easy and very sturdy. The base has non-slip corners that keep the slicer in place during cutting. The cutting guide does not have all guides the same width -- and even the thinnest ones will give you about a 1/2" slice. I haven't measured how thick the thicker slice is. But it's great to get consistently wide slices after struggling with slices that start at one thickness and change as you go because human error. I've needed this tool for years; finally got it.

Long serated knife.
This item needs an extra long serated blade bread knife to make slices clean and smooth. Love this item.

Really nicely made, but not as convenient as you might expect
I got this because I like to make sourdough bread but I'm terrible at cutting even slices. I received this jig and used it to slice a loaf of my sourdough bread. Overall, this slicer jig is very well made, but not as convenient to use as you might think. The wood is nice, very well machined, and nicely finished. The parts fit together easily. The design is well-thought out in that you can move the sides in or out to different slots to accommodate different sized loaves. And when you use it, you get a much more even and straight slice than I ever get when I slice bread without this jig.Note that the listing recommends a 10" knife. Well, I only have a bread knife with an 8" blade, so I used that. I thought that would be fine, because my loaf of bread was significantly smaller than the full jig, and I therefore put the sides one slot back on each side. Well, even that was nearly the length of my knife, so I had to take very short strokes to keep the knife in both sides of the jig. My sourdough bread has enough of a crust that short strokes do not do a great job cutting, so it was a bit of work. I suppose the bottom line on this issue is that you will want a knife that is significantly longer than the width of your loaf or you have to take much shorter strokes.Another nit is that, as you near the bottom of the loaf, you need to stop cutting or you'll cut into the wood. This is true for any cutting board, but normally I just tilt the loaf a bit, which would be more inconvenient in this jig.Overall, I give the jig 5 stars because it is very nicely made and exactly what you hope it would be, but I will end up using it a lot less than I hoped I would just because the nature of the jig is more inconvenient than I thought it would be. Realistically, I will usually just cut my loaves of bread freehand.

Waste of money- doesn’t work
Don’t waste your time. This is the 3rd one of this type I have tried and they just don’t work. The amount of pressure you have to place in the bread to keep it in place is ridiculous. The bamboo also doesn’t last. To cut all the way through the bread means cutting into the sides of the bamboo board thus not lasting.Even the more expensive ones of the same type are a waste of money.

Good quality
The quality of the bamboo seems very nice, it’s solid and seems sturdy, but have only used it once so far. I would give five stars if the two sides were taller, more like the height of a loaf of homemade bread. That’s really my only complaint.

Have A Long Knife!
Make sure you have a very long blade on your bread knife for this to work correctly. It’s decent quality but is quickly cut up by the knife when slicing the bottom. It holds a relatively large loaf of bread.
