Tasty Fries with a couple notations! 🍟

I bought the version with the 1/4" and 1/2" blades. The 1/2" worked wonderful but the 1/4" didn't work at all. I'm pretty upset the 1/4" didn't work as we prefer thinner fries like McDonald's. I wish I would've bought the machine and blades separate so I could return what I cannot use.5 star for 1/2"0 star for 1/4"3 overall5+ for the sellerUpdate: After writing this review, the seller was very kind in providing an amicable refund solution, unexpectedly. I didn't ask for it. Wonderful to work with!Another update on the fries themselves. While I wanted thinner fries, they are still pretty good thick. I'm going to give it a try with some softer veggies and perhaps peeling potatoes before attempting the 1/4" next time.

POS- black plastic all over my potatoes

Very different performance between the 1/4” and 1/2” blades. The 1/2” blade aligns fine with the push-block and cuts PEELED potatoes fine. Forget cutting potatoes with skins. The 1/4” blade (which is my preference for fries) was extremely difficult to push peeled potatoes through. The potato would get stuck in the blade, and the push-block would come loose from the handle. I had to constantly reinstall the push-block as every time I would try to push a potato, it would become dislodged. Every potato (I tried about 15-20) became lodged in the blade, and I had to pull the potato out. This is partly due to the plastic push-block not aligning with the blade. No matter how I tried to get the push-block to align with the blade, there was always a misalignment. At this time, I should mention I’m a mechanical engineer and could not get this to properly align / work. Because of the misalignment, the blade would shave lots of black plastic pieces from the push-block onto my potatoes.Additionally, I would push the potato so hard with the push-block that part of the potato would get stuck in the push-block (and the blade). I would have to clean the push-block for each potato using a knife to go through each channel. Not only that, if the mounting surface becomes wet, which it will when cutting potatoes, the suction cups will slip making this equipment even more difficult to use.I spent more time fighting with this equipment than I would have cutting the potatoes myself. It did not save time; it did not fulfill its purpose.I cannot express my extreme disappointment. I kept trying, hoping I could get it to work. But all I did was make more plastic chips.I had to thoroughly wash and soak the potatoes to remove all of the plastic chips.I found another potato cutter that used a metal push-block with smaller circles to fit into larger, square blade holes. The alignment works well and it is more sturdy with suction cups double the size as this unit. It was also half the price. Usually you get what you pay for, but not in this case.Find a better product.

The black pusher plate doesn't push quite far enough to get the veggies totally cut

This is a heavy duty vegetable cutter with very sharp blades. I was quite pleased that weak little old me was able to quickly push through 10 lbs. of whole peeled potatoes without difficulty. The only thing I don't like is that the pusher plate does not push into the blades enough to push the ends of the vegetables through. The first time I used it, I was using a spatula to try to force the end pieces on through the blades, but that seemed dangerous. I discovered that if you leave the level in the pulled-down position, it's easier to grab and pull and sliced potato or other veggie out the other side, and it does work to get most of it out this way. Still, I wound up with some pieces stuck in the blades.I was following a YouTube video showing how they diced up potatoes for dehydrating, and they set the cutter beside the sink and cut the potatoes straight into a sink filled with cold water. I was able to do this, too. I thought it would be easier to cross-slice the potatoes by hand, then run them through the slicer to dice them, but it turned out it was easier to cut them fry-style first, then cut batches of them into dices by hand on the cutting board. It went faster that, way, anyway. One point of improvement would be if you could rotate the rubber feet after screwing them in slightly to be sure the little pull tabs are facing outward so you can reach them. No matter how many times I tried to screw the suction feet in all different kinds of ways, I could never get all of them to wind up with the tabs on the outside. Without access to the tabs, it's very hard to remove the stuck-on cutter from the countertop. I've got it sitting by the sink right now on a hard silicone cutting board, which it won't stick to because of the cuts, and next time I use it I'm going to stick it to the bottom of my tub-style sink. I've already tried doing it, and it will work that way. Then I can spray it down when finished right there in the sink.
