This ain’t rocket science. Replaced the old blade with this new one. We make three smoothies every morning and it works great
The bearings in my original blade were failing. It was really hard to spin and I can hear the machine struggle. I replaced with this blade and we are back in business. No more strain in the machine and seems to work as well as the original.
I have no idea why the manufacturer refuses to sell a replacement blade. All I can say is my blade bearings must have been failing for a long time. The blender works so much better with this blade. Smoothies can be made faster and at a lower speed than before. Low price and exact fit. What’s not to like.
Works just like brand new. Excellent replacement for my Vitamix blades and the Wrench to remove and put the new set of blades on. Easy.
Failed within 5 months.
First, to address some other commenters concerns about sharpness, Vitamix advertises their blades as intentionally not sharp so that they act as "hammer mills" which pulverize rather than cut. I took a file to this replacement to intentionally dull the leading edge. That made it closer to the original Vitamix blade. I also filed off some bits of metal where the blade piece was nicked. (I'd guess from being dropped in a bin with other blades during manufacturing.) This blade's alloy doesn't seem to be as nice as original, but it's doing just fine after a couple of months of use and should hold up fine. I did bend the arms of the blade piece a little bit to get them closer to the same shape as the original. That's not necessary but I'd taken the assembly apart anyway with the thought of using the original blade on this unit.Which gets me to the fact that the original Vitamix blade will not work with this unit's barring shaft. So don't plan on swapping your original blade onto the bearing component of this unit <chagrinned>. This unit has a square shaft where the blade attaches. The Vitamix unit has a round shaft to accommodate the round hole in the OEM blade. I won't go into the trade offs of round vs. square shaft here. This unit resists rotation a bit more than the original one. That was the case when new and still now that it's been used for a couple of months. Not a problem. Just something to be aware of (since it likely warms up slightly faster than the original.) The bearings work fine, which is the reason for replacing the unit. Having tried to replace the bearing in the original unit with skateboard bearing I managed to mung the rubber seal that keeps container fluid out of the bearings and the replacement "sealed bearings" corroded. I would suggest using this or similar replacement unit over attempting to just replace the bearing to anyone other than a bored gung-ho DIYer with plenty of extra time. If you insist on going that route check into exactly how the seal I messed up works. First one like it that I've seen.
Got this one to replace original one. It’s much less expensive than OEM one but functionally well. I’ve been using it for a while. So far so good.
