Worked perfectly though I did choose to subsequently buy the special tool. I tried with other of my own tools and nothing quite worked properly (and that's why it's called a 'special' tool).Examining the old 10+ year old blade revealed little dings that obviously would reduce the effectiveness. New blade made a noticeable performance improvement.
Works like a charm and replaced the 10 year old blade in my Vitamix. First go around I didn't tighten it enough and it leaked. I didn't buy the special tool. It fit well. If you don't have a good assortment of standard tools at home you will probably need to special wrench. I didn't need it I just applied a bit more torque with a handle from some channel locks.
This blade is everything and more, it really saved me a lot of money! It fit perfect and my blender is working like new…. HIGHLY RECOMMEND
The blade that came with this set has already failed. It is completely locked up and will not turn after just a few months of use. It also came completely off of the Vitamix container and spilled smoothie all over my kitchen. The last time I used it, it leaked and now it is completely frozen and will not turn. And yes, it was fully tightened onto the container before use.
Didn't fit
I've had my vitamix for about 10 years and the blade had really gotten dull. Vitamix claimed this "couldn't happen" because their blades are so strong (eye roll, not true!) and it was outside the warranty. I was upset the replacement was expensive and worried that this knock off wouldn't work or would mess up my blender. I'm happy to report that it was super easy to swap out (look it up on youtube) and my blender is definitely working better. Undeniable that the actual Vitamix blades are better but this is a good replacement if you need something more budget friendly.
Item looks just like the original. I’ve had this for several months in blender that is used almost daily. I bought it to replace the original one because the gear starting grinding and sticking. This one works great! No leakage. Installation was easy and included wrench helped. Picture shows comparison of OEM vs new purchase.
