This fit my older Vitamix 5000 like a charm. I damaged the original retaining nut on my blender pitcher and had to replace, but everything I was looking didn't appear to come with the replacement seal and it was something very much needed. This fastened on with no issues and the seal was great. If you are looking for replacement, this is a great fit.
This aluminum retaining nut fits my Vitamix 6300 but the silicone seal that comes with it is not so good. It isn't quite wide enough to fit into the groove that goes around the outside of the retaining nut and the seal repeatedly came off when I tried to thread the nut onto the bottom of the container. I could have tried stretching it out a bit but it was easier to just use the silicone seal from the old aluminum retaining nut I had on there. If you have the same problem, putting some silicone grease on the new seal may help keep it in place when threading the nut on.
Sometimes you might come across a second-hand Vitamix that only has a problem of a deteriorating retaining nut on a blending cup. Rather than getting a whole new cup for $110+, you have an option of replacing the part. Finding the parts can be difficult, but this retaining nut is perfect for this problem. While you may need a specific wrench in order to change the nut out, this option it a cost saving alternative.This retaining nut, compared to the official/original is a little different though. Made of a thick aluminum, it's lighter in weight than the original, made of a plastic coated steel. I'm not quite sure if the material means much in regards to performance, but the replacement nut does the job just as well. The nut also has a sealing ring so you won't need so salvage the old ring off of the old part.
