Nice bags and plenty of them, will not change taste.
Its really so hard to find a tea ball thats not some toxic metal or bpa. These were super inexpensive, reusable and so many! also 100%cotton so youre not getting tiny plastic fibers in your tea. Ive only used 2 so far since theyre easily washable in the kitchen sink and used some for gifts when I made some chai masala. I feel like the flavor goes through the fabric better than coffee filters. of course black teas stains them but that doesnt matter to me. Id rather use stained tea bags than have tea bags with dye in them. There were some loose fibers when new but they havent unravelled
I found that regular coffee was upsetting my gut, so I started purchasing mold free organic coffee. Because coffee makers can be a source of mold, I wanted an alternative “brewing” method.I first tried the “cup over” method with the filters, but found that the coffee was going through it too fast and tasted weak. Then I started putting the grounds directly in my coffee and then straining it into another cup. The fine mesh strainer was still allowing much of the grounds & debris into the coffee. Then I purchased a large tea strainer (to hold 1 to 2 Tablespoons) which again resulted in weak coffee. The cotton reusable bags were a home run. I add 1.5 Tablespoons of my organic coffee into the reusable bag. I pull it shut and sit it in my mug while I pour water in my cup. I do not pour near the opening of the bag, but next to it. Then I set my timer for 4 minutes, which is the regular time for French Press coffee. Then I squeeze my bag in between 2 spoons, into my coffee and set it on a plate. I find if I let the grounds/bag dry, it’s easier to dump the grounds out (into my trash). Then I squeeze a drop of dish soap on it and wash and rinse very well. I lay the cleaned bag on a paper towel and reuse the next day. They do get stained, but that doesn’t bother me. They are still new to me, but I figured I will throw away after about a week and replenish with a new bag, or two since I use 2 a day as I drink 2 cups in the morning.
I bought these to attach to mason jars full of bath salts. I made a bath tea mixture with real dried flowers. These bags definitely were the perfect piece that helped others not get clogged drains but still receive the benefits of the bath tea mixture. My only downside is that once these are closed, it’s hard to reopen and takes a little more work then expected. But LOVE that these are Cotton and easy to clean.
I load these up with celery leaves and store them in the freezer (in a ziplock bag) until I make stew or cooked dried beans. Then I pull one out of the freezer and add aromatics (bay leaves, Herb de Provence, etc) and toss them in while the beans are boiling (or stew is simmering). Great way to add flavor and since the aromatics are held securely in the bag, it is super easy to remove them. Highly recommend.
So happy with this purchase! The price is right and if you ever Reyes to cut cheesecloth, you’ll fully appreciate these awesome bags! Love them!
Exactly what I needed for placing fresh spices (such as rosemary, thyme, etc) into the making of a soup stock or an actual soup. Use is easy: place your herbs in the small bag, tie it off with attached strings, drop in pot of stock, soup, etc. Then, after use, just pull it and out and toss it away…no little unwanted leaves or stems you have to go “fishing” for to remove. Perfect. Note: I can see many uses for these: sachets, small storage bags for small things (earrings, rings) while traveling too.
