(Nearly) Unbreakable, perfect for travel
Update 2: After using my 5th one for many months the carafe has not cracked. This certainly seems to be after I slackened off the handle screw. It would seem that it is overtightened in the factory and the carafe expands quicker than the holder when hot water is added. It does not have to be really slack, certainly nowhere near enough to be dangerous. Just release that overtightened screw a bit and the press should last a long time.Update: I'm now on my 5th one. Why would I reorder? They're actually really good for travel, they just don't handle thermal shock well. If the water is anywhere near boiling, the carafe will crack. I think this may be a result of the top band of the handle assembly being too tight and the carafe expanding. This time I gave loosened the screw on the holder just a little to release the pressure. Let's see if this one lasts a bit longer! These BPA free plastic ones are perfect for life on the move. I take mine on multi day hikes, it is so light, and that fresh coffee in the morning is something which can really begin a hiking day well!

NO CUSTOMER SERVICE/ response/giving a rats rearend.
They give a "warranty" of one month. One week after "warranty" expires the carafe cracks while IY am pouring the hot water in. Amazon pointed me in right direction on how to contact company. I sent following email to the address the company lists on Amazon on June 7, '24.***email to company ***I recently purchased your 34 oz. french press through Amazon. It was purchased on April 22, 2024. On or about May 30th, 2024 as I was pouring the hot water in the carafe I heard a loud snap. Sure enough the plastic carafe cracked. (see attached pictures) This is the second french press I have purchased from you. The first one cracked also, but that was after 2 years of daily use. This new one only lasted 5 weeks. Just in case you were wondering I do not use boiling water. I run clean water through our BUNN coffee machine and then pour that water in my french press. I am disappointed in the fact that your product did not last more than 5 weeks. Just wanted to know if you are interested in my concerns and complaint, and if there is something you could do to help .***end of email***One day later (June 8, '24) Amazon even contacts me to see if I got any response/ satisfaction, even though it's not their responsibility. I have given the company a solid business week to at least respond. CRICKETS. nothing. I checked spam email daily also. Nothing. My opinion is: IF you feel like throwing your money away, this is the company to give it to.Go somewhere else, spend more money on something better. You will be very disappointed in this company.

Say Goodbye to Broken Glass with Bodum Java French Press !
home. The Bodum Java French Press Coffee Maker has been a great addition to my coffee routine. As someone who has had bad luck with glass French presses breaking, the plastic cup is a welcome feature. I appreciate that it is durable and won't shatter if accidentally knocked over. However, like other reviewers have noted, the filter is not perfect and some coffee grounds do end up in the cup. But using a coarse grind and being careful when pouring can minimize this issue. I have also found that using a smoother filter from another French press can improve the overall performance of the Bodum Java.Overall, I think the Bodum Java French Press Coffee Maker is a solid choice for anyone looking for a durable and reliable option for their morning coffee routine. While it may not be perfect, with a little bit of care and attention, you can enjoy a delicious and fresh cup of coffee every morning.

EDIT: The carafe started leaking out of the bottom after 10 months of use.
This French press works well, and I'm not afraid of my grandson (or wife!) breaking it, but the overall feel is pretty cheap-y. The plastic cannister could've been a bit thicker to hold in the heat better, and the plunger/filter piece feels very cheap.Still, I would buy it again. Hopefully though, since it's shatterproof I won't have to!EDIT: Yes, I did end up having to buy a new French press far sooner than I had expected to. The plastic does not appear to be able to withstand near-boiling water for long, which is too bad since it's meant to brew hot coffee!I have now replaced it with a metal French press and hoping that it will last a few years.

The beaker doesn’t crack like the glass versions do, sooner or later.
Works absolutely the same way - and as well - as the glass models. I’ve gone through 2-3 of the glass versions over the years . . . all have cracked, in spite of careful use. In all other ways, it is a good “French” press, without the downside.

Leaking Coffee
Would give it 0 stars if I could. It's been less than 2 months and it's already developed a leak. At times when I poured in hot water I would hear "cracking," like it was about to shatter. Lucky for them, looks line the refund window closed right on time. Steer clear of Bodum!

Durable, not a perfect cup of coffee
I’ve had this plastic French press for less than 2 months. I can attest to the fact it’s definitely more durable than the glass version - it made contact with a kitchen wing wall and survived - but I now have dreaded coffee grounds in my finished cup. Bottom line, the benefit of durability, but the real possibility it won’t make a perfect cup, definitely a compromise
