The design looks good in the images, but this tote lacks a bottom gusset to expand properly. When full, the text is obscured and the design without the text looks busy and difficult to interpret at a distance. The text would explain the image, except that it's only visible when the tote is empty. Otherwise it's sound and sturdy and it works, but I would like a larger carrying capacity and a more attractive design.
I'm a high school teacher, so every single day I go to and from work schlepping a bag filled with stacks of papers to grade, folders full of hall passes and PD session notes and lesson plan ideas scribbled on paper scraps, pouches of paperclips and rainbow grading pens, a laptop and snacks and a lanyard and whatever else I grab at 6:30 a.m.Anyhow, besides giving me a pretty solid backache, this also makes me rather qualified to evaluate tote bags, of which I own a dozen or more. So I'm here, friends, to confirm that this is a terrific bag. It's made of thick and strong, real cotton canvas, so it's going to hold up to getting tossed into the car and carrying heavy loads. And at just under 14" wide and 15.5" deep, it's pretty large capacity, so I'm going to fit a whole lot of stuff in there. I was able to fit the 3" stack of my end of the quarter grading (yikes) and a 17" Chromebook inside with room to spare. The straps are about 22" long, so the bag fits nicely under my arm when worn, and they're wide enough that it actually was comfortable, even when packed full. Construction quality is good- the stitching is strong, no loose threads, and the design appears to be screen printed, not a cheap iron-on transfer. And, HELLO, it's ADORABLE.Such a nice bag, and for the current price of under 10 bucks? Such a good deal. This would make a great gift for any student, teacher, librarian, book lover, or cat lady (or any combination thereof).
