Pleasantly surprised
I will start off by saying I am a trained chef... so I know and love knives.I do have preference for Japanese style knives because of their razor edges. This knife is made in the Japanese style, but is actually manufactured in China. OK... we will see how it holds up over time, but for the price point it still has a lot of great features. At first glance, it's pretty. The olive wood handle is not only beautiful, but it feels good in the hand and provides a little grip. It's not too slick, so it doesn't slip in my hand. I usually test the balance, and it is a little handle-heavy. The blade itself is a little on the shorter side for MY personal preferences, but certainly in the norm for most people's uses. I also have a preference for an offset blade, but there is enough space for my fingers to not get crushed when cutting. I can't find anywhere where it indicates if it is a full tang knife, and without an actual visual, it's hard to know if it is or not.It feels incredibly sharp, and with a serrated edge, this will not need attention for a while. The blade is wider and hefty. Basically, this is a workhorse of a bread knife disguised as a delicate Japanese one.I have high hopes for this, and am pleasantly surprised. If any issues arise as time goes on, I will update. Please take care of your knives... and never wash them in the dishwasher!

Looks great, so far works wonderfully
We have a 30 year old bread knife from a knife set that's been doing a reasonably ok job of cutting sourdough loaves, but not great. It often slips and is unable to gain purchase on the hard crust. So I thought it was time to try a new bread knife. Well, my wife baked a fresh loaf and I had no problem slicing right through it, as well as through a dozen fresh bagels. If the blade stays sharp, this will make a great replacement. The wood in the handle is beautiful, really nice textures. One possible issue. I noticed this knife does not seem to have a full-length tang running the length of the handle. Or if it does, it's hidden inside the wood. This may not be a problem since we're not pressing down that hard on bread.

Slices through bread like butter
This 8-inch Damascus steel bread knife is a standout in my kitchen. Most of the time, cutting bread ends in a squished mess—but not with this knife. It slices through bread like butter (pun intended)! The serrated edge is razor-sharp, and the beautifully crafted olive wood handle feels great in hand. It’s clear this knife will hold its edge for a long time. A perfect blend of function and elegance—highly recommended for Damascus knife lovers!

The ultra-sharp 15-degree edge effortlessly glides through crusty artisan bread while maintaining the perfect control for delicate items like ripe tomatoes and soft desserts. The 67-layer Damascus steel construction provides exceptional edge retention that has remained impressively sharp even after months of daily use. The olive wood handle offers both stunning aesthetics and ergonomic comfort, creating a perfect balance that makes this knife as much a joy to display as it is to use.

A great way to cut homemade bread
I got a breadmaker last year, and have baked about a dozen loafs. Until this week, I just used my usual chef's knife to cut them up (same one I use to cut meat).I didn't realize what I was missing until I used this bread knife. It cuts the loaf with smooth, even cuts that are easier to do.According to the labeling (shown in the attached photo), it is made of layered Damascus steel. I don't know how that makes a difference, but I can certainly say that I never expected a bread knife to make this big an impression on me.If you buy whole loaves, or bake your own, I'm now convinced that you definitely need a good bread knife to make maximum use of your bread, with minimal effort. This is an example of such a knife. It's nice looking, too.

Balanced, Versatile, Sharp
This attractive knife is nicely balanced and easy to handle. It is very versatile and I use it to slice, dice and even chop fruits, vegetables, and chicken breasts. I have not yet used it for bread. The serrated edge is very sharp and slices cleanly without crushing. I like this especially when slicing softer objects like tomatoes and grapefruit. The tip is also very sharp and cleanly completes the slicing motion. It comes with a plastic sheath and a plastic guard for the tip for safe storage in my knife drawer. Very satisfied.
