Beautiful knife that’s great
Wow! We have used this bread slicer for a couple of months and can testify that it’s great. It’s a big, sturdy, well made knife that slices like a dream, everything from thin delicate cake slices to hunks of thick crusted chewy loaves. At 14” overall, it is long and heavy enough to please my husband, and is so well balanced that it doesn’t feel awkward in my small hands. The steel still gleams like new, with no spotting at all, though we don’t put it in the dishwasher. A quick swipe and rinse in hot water cleans the crumbs off perfectly, then dry and pop in the drawer for next time. The sharp blade shows no sign of dullness after many uses. In addition to the beautiful blade, the 5” handle has a triple tang so it won’t be falling apart anytime soon. So far we only use it for bread, but this would make a great tomato knife, or would easily handle slicing meat and cheese. It’s a nicely made, easy care, and versatile tool for the kitchen. Would make a nice gift as well!
Nice and sharp
This breadknife made from German high carbon stainless steel is an outstanding value for the current $19.99 price. I own a number of high quality knives, including German chef’s knives, serrated bread knives, and assorted kitchen knives, some made from carbon steel and others are stainless. Good knives generally cost upwards of a hundred bucks or more for a blade this size. The sharp edge lasts longer on stainless steel, but it’s also very difficult to sharpen due to its hardness. This stainless knife sold by CoquusAid has a high carbon content, allowing the serrated edge to be sharpened by hand. Not only is it serrated, but also has the hollow dimples that allow it to release slices better. This is my first knife with the dimples so I was anxious to test it.I didn’t have any homemade bread baked, so I used fresh brioche rolls, which are notoriously soft. It cut them into 1/8 to 1/4 inch slices without crushing or denting the top of the roll. Then I tried a cabbage, which it easily cut through, and peeled slices off that are cole slaw thin. I took a few photos as I cut. It had no problem cutting large baked chicken breasts either. Really great knife in use.The knife is well balanced and natural to grip. It has a full tang in the handle ensuring the blade won’t wobble or come loose. It comes in a nice box with a cutout to fit the knife exactly, as well as instructions for sharpening. It looks much more expensive than it is and would make a great gift. The knife comes razor sharp with little plastic tip protectors on each end. I sure wish it came with its own protective cover for the entire blade to slip into. It’s a bit tedious putting those tiny tip guards back on without slipping and cutting yourself. I don’t have a knife block to store it so I’ll have to keep it boxed for safety when not in use.Overall, this is an excellent knife well worth its asking price.
I've been on a long quest to replace a beloved serrated knife I snagged at a yard sale ages ago. It's one of those rare finds that just works for everything. Most bread knives I've tried since then have fallen short, either being too flimsy or with teeth so deep they shred my homemade bread and leave a crumbly mess. But this one comes impressively close.Right out of the box, I could tell this was a well made knife. It has a satisfying heft, and it looks like the the blade and handle are made from a single piece of steel which I don't see often with these modern knives. This is an oldschool method of welding. This knife was clearly made to last. The edge is razor sharp. I barely grazed the tip and had to double check I wasn’t bleeding (I wasn’t, thankfully, but it was close!).Performance wise, it’s already proven itself. It sliced through a roast like butter and glided through a ripe tomato without squishing it into pulp. The serrations are a happy medium for me. Not too deep to cause crumbling, but not so shallow that they lose their bite. I haven’t tested it on bread yet, but with Thanksgiving around the corner, I’ll be putting it through the test on some crusty loaves. My only let down was that it didn’t come with a blade cover. While it was packaged securely with cardboard and blade protectors on either end of the blade, I would’ve appreciated a proper cover for safe storage. Especially for those household with small or less experienced kids with curious little hands. If you’re looking for a versatile, sturdy, and sharp as a knife knife (pun intended) that can handle more than just bread, this one’s worth a serious look. I’m genuinely happy with it and excited to see how it performs on my holiday spread.
This CoquusAid 9″ bread knife surprised me with how well it performs. The high‑carbon German steel feels seriously sharp right out of the box and makes slicing through crusty sourdough, sandwich loaves, and even a turkey breast effortless. The serrated edge stays consistent and doesn’t crush soft bread like cheaper knives can. The ergonomic handle is comfortable and gives a solid grip, which makes longer prep sessions easier on your hands. It’s also surprisingly versatile — I’ve used it on melons and tomatoes with clean cuts. Great balance of sharpness, comfort, and everyday utility.
