Very sturdy and effective. This knife was purchased specifically to cut through sourdough bread. Sourdough is delicious but difficult to cut well. This knife does the trick. It is sharp so you get a nice slice every time. The handle is also so beautiful.
I bought this knife on a whim because my prior bread knife was too short and did not provide the optimal cut for my homemade loaves of bread and bagels. My old knife seemed dull, and even with slow motions, the blade always dragged my bread down. However, after purchasing this bread knife, Im pretty excited everytime i bake a loaf of bread or make bagels to use this thing. First of all, it looks like a freaking handsaw. That's a hardcore kitchen aesthetic right there. No one will see this and think it's a bread knife. Second, it's super sharp. I cut my finger the first time I used it, and boy, was I hurt and pleased with how sharp it was. Third, it cut through my bread beautifully. I used the same slow, even motion I had been using with the previous knife, and the results were entirely different. Fourth, this knife comes with a blade guard, so please don't toss this piece when you open the box. It's great because this knife cannot be stored in a block; it can be hung on a command hook or placed inside a drawer. If you're putting this in the drawer, you want to avoid cutting yourself while reaching into the drawer later on. Please save that guard on the blade for protection. Overall, I will buy a couple more for some friends and family who are also enthusiastic bakers. They will get a kick out of the knife's aesthetic and the cut quality it provides for homemade bread.
