Dougvera bread proofing box was a great choice.

This box worked great! It is a good size and good quality. I made some sourdough cinnamon rolls and this box worked great in the rising of the rolls.

Convenient for storage

This Dougvera collapsible bread proofing box is easy to assemble, stores flat, and offers a thoughtfully designed interior with zippered sides, a clear Velcro top, and a raised rack to keep bowls away from the heating element. It comfortably fits standard bowls and bannetons, is lightweight enough to move around easily, and doesn’t take over permanent counter space. The three-sided heating system provides even warmth, and the adjustable temperature control is the standout feature, helping maintain a consistent environment for dough without needing to rotate containers. A built-in timer and long power cord are a bonus.Yes, the control panel takes a little getting used to and feedback on current versus set temperature could be clearer, but I think the overall performance is solid, especially for anyone baking in cooler or inconsistent environments. You shouldn’t just “set it and forget it”, but it is a useful tool in bread making. It may not completely replace traditional proofing methods, but it removes much of the guesswork and helps create more reliable fermentation. If you bake sourdough regularly, this is a practical tool that streamlines the process, reduces fuss, and delivers steadier results with minimal effort. It’s a little steep for $45, I might wait til there’s a sale.

Works great

Used twice. Does what it says. Just remember to get set up and get desired temperature before dough making.

Fantastic box - also works for regular bread dough!

I bake a lot of fresh bread for my family, and while I can use the Bread Proof setting in my oven for rising (and stretching and pulling) with a little cover over a bowl with dough in it, shaping the loaf and letting it rise that last time with no cover is a pain in the butt as I'm constantly brushing it with water so it doesn't dry out. This temperature control box was AWESOME for retaining moisture and let me get other stuff done instead of futzing with an annoying rising loaf trying to dry out. It also frees up my oven all afternoon since I can just put the dough bowl in this handy contraption instead of using the entire oven to bread proof. Summer is a different story, but in the cold months here (which is pretty much October to May), setting a bowl of dough on the counter is pointless. Even with the heat on, it is cooooold in the kitchen. When it's 2 degrees outside (Fahrenheit) it's not going to be all warm and toasty for rising dough, so you've got to put it in the oven on bread proof, or in front of the oven while it's cooking - either way you're trying to warm it up but then it's drying out. Anyway, enough of me complaining haha. The POINT is that we all have little workarounds to get that bread to rise, and this box is a total Work Smarter, Not Harder contraption. I am a big fan. It is super easy to zip it up into its box shape - it's very intuitive, I didn't need to read any instructions. I will say, however, that I was glad I took pictures of it how it came all flattened out because, at first, when I went to put it away, I was like "How the heck did this flatten down properly??" But one peek at the picture (that I included in this review) and I was able to replicate it. The material is nice and durable, and it looks nice on the counter. There's a metal rack that comes with it, so your dough bowl isn't touching the actual warming surface. Brilliant. I left using the control settings to my husband since the holidays are still going full swing and I'm cooking eleventy billion things, and there was a great instructional video on the sale page for him to view. It's nice and roomy in there, the bowl had plenty of space, and when I finally shaped my loaf and put it in its terracotta bread pan, that fit right in there as well. I know the box isn't cheap, but it's worth the price for the fact that I can simply plug in and set the box and put my dough in there without having to constantly babysit it and without tying up my oven space.

Not a Bad Box

I have a fancy electronic bread proofer box that I've been using for years. My chief complaint with it is that it's too small. This box is... Smaller. It's just not big enough to prove more than a couple loaves worth of dough, and it really can only prove one loaf at a time in bannetons. It works fine, it's easy to set, and the temperatures seem pretty accurate, but you can really only use it for a small batch of bulk fermentation. It also seems quite expensive for what it is. I'm a bit on the fence about this one, but I don't hate it.

Does exactly what you think it does, is well built and should last a long time.

Honestly i'm an infrequent home baker and I have often struggled particularly with sourdough. This proofing box from Dougvera has improved a couple of the issues I struggled with, primarily waking up the starter and proofing. My kitchen is not well temperature regulated compared to the rest of my house and for much of the year it's too cold for consistent (or timely) proofing. This bread proofing box works much better than setting the bowl on top of the fridge or taking up my oven (with the light on to add warmth) and allows me to take some of the guess work out of sourdough. The box is easy to set up, stores flat when not in use, includes a metal rack to keep bowls off the heating surface, and looks to be easy to clean as well (I haven't gotten it dirty enough to need cleaning yet). The temperature controls and timer work well though you should familiarize yourself with the instructions as some things are not instantly intuitive. The box shuts off automatically after a designated period so if you want to save power you can use it to get things kick-started and then let the dough continue on it's own. It's got plenty of room for a large bowl, basket, or bread pan but doesn't completely dominate your countertop.I have used the box for waking up my refrigerated sourdough starter as well as for reducing the time needed for proofing my loaves. While I am still tweaking my sourdough process and struggle to make loaves that I would not be embarrassed to share with others, this at least helps me to "fail faster", which still helps me to improve my process. It's fairly inexpensive (at the time of this review), well built, and in my opinion more than worth it for reliable proofing in cooler months. Fully recommended.
