Functional, but best as an alternative to better methods

This is a good option for someone lacking a reliable proving drawer or who has an older oven they can't rely on. (I'm both.) I like that it doesn't have to live on the counter, but it is still a bit bulky when folded, so having some space for storage is a must. Right now, it stays on top of the fridge. The window is nice for viewing the dough. I've had success with it; it proves, but it's not a miracle product. It still takes me about the same time I would spend in the oven, but at least this saves energy, so I'm happy. I haven't had any issues cleaning it out or getting the bread in and out. Overall, I'm satisfied with it and again, would recommend it as a Plan B.

Perfect proofing

This is such a great product. I have an oven that will proof, but I am usually using it for something else, so I tried this countertop one. I immediately opened the box and made cinnamon rolls. I set it at 82 degrees and it doubled in just under an hour. It is a little hard to zip together at first, but I am sure that will get easier from use. It fits up to a 9x13 pan. This will be a great addition for anyone who likes to make yeasted dough. It folds flat and will make it easy to take with me if I need to make something at someone else's home. 100% recommend this

Not worth your time for something g that doesn't work

It didn't work for me, my sourdough didn't rise, as it supposed to, the temperature gage is weirdly dangling inside the box. The thermometer only allows for 12 hrs and it doesn't hold temp anyway, it fluctuates even when closed, sometimes it turnes off on its own. My kitchen is cold so I needed a warm spot for the starter to be in, not in this bad boy

Didn't know what I was missing till I tried this

Living in a climate that's quite cold in the winter, I've learned that the old trick of turning your oven on for a minute and then sticking the dough in while it's still warm is kind of unpredictable and bread doesn't proof reliably. So I jumped at the chance to try this out. It's not perfect, no, but it's also not very expensive and I think it strikes a good balance between cost and value for casual home bakers. I felt that it assembled pretty easily once I figured it out. It's not super sturdy, but why does it have to be? It's meant to be put in a somewhat out-of-the-way place and left alone. I love the window at the top -- so much easier than trying to see into the oven -- but I struggle a little to place the banneton in the container from the top. Chalk it up to my clumsiness. And the temperature sensor doesn't really seem to have a "home" in the box; I guess you just put it wherever you want. But overall, those are minor quibbles and this has been a very effective help the couple of times I've used it.

I wanted to love this so much, but it's just okay

I've taken kind of a long time to review this product, because I really WANT to love it, but unfortunately I just don't love it that much.I'm an avid baker living in a cold city. My kitchen has big windows. It's not super warm, which can make it difficult to bake nice fluffy bread. My usual solution is to turn on the oven for just a minute to heat it up a bit, and use that as a proving drawer. It works but it's not super predictable. So I was excited to get my hands on this! Foldable proofing box? I can have a warm place for my bread to prove at a reliable temperature AND it won't take up a ton of space when not in use? Yay!Unfortunately... ehh.-Does it heat up to prove bread? Yes it does. Points for doing what it's supposed to. But, not noticeably better than a warm oven.-Getting the temperature sensor to be where it's supposed to is weird and fiddly. It seems like it should go in through the same port as the power cable, but that doesn't go all the way through, and the instructions aren't very clear. It's also supposed to be above the bottom of the box. In the end what I've done is dangle it down from one of the edges and zip right up to it, so that it hangs down into the box about an inch off the bottom. That seems to work fine but it also seems like it can't be how it was designed, surely? There's also a suction cup on the sensor which does... nothing. The suction cup will not stick to the inside of the box.-I think the design is clever, and it does fold down, but not in a neat or easy way. It's still a pretty bulky item. And assembling it is also kind of awkward and fiddly. The seams around the edges pop out and you have to kind of pull the zipper over, while holding the sides of the box in more or less the right position so that the zipper will actually close... I look like a doofus setting it up.I dunno. I feel like there's got to be someone out there with a very specific baking situation that only this proofer box could solve. If it's what you need to use, it would be great to have. I probably will keep it for situations like family holidays, where I might want to have bread proving while the oven is occupied with turkey or whatever. But that's the only situation I can think of where this will be useful to have around.
