Great quality basket. I bake a lot of bread. Sometimes I like to use a baking stone for a loaf. I preheat the stone in the oven and carefully turn the raised dough from the basket on to a pizza peel., then into the oven and on to the stone. This basket keeps the loaf shape, and a quick trip to the oven makes the bread set in that shape and not spread out sideways. Sometimes I like to use my preheated Romertopf clay baker, and this basket is the same size. I just turn the dough into the hot clay baker and set it back in the oven.Yes, I've had many years of practice and trial and error to get my breads just right. (The birds loved my failures!). If you prepare the basket liner with flour, nothing will ever stick. I will also use the basket to serve my breads. This company makes several sizes of these baskets and sends you a nice sourdough e-book too. Nice!

I like the size and shape of these bannetons. As long as I dust with a mix of rye and rice flour I get no sticking. My first use was an 83% hydration loaf of sourdough rye bread. I used the included liner generously dusted with rye and rice flour with a very wet, sticky dough and had absolutely no sticking. This banneton was the perfect size and shape for a 900 gram loaf. I cannot speak to durability as I have only used once. Not sure I would consider this a giftable item since size and shape are determined by a bakers needs.
