These are 3.5 star knives

These knives had potential but they ultimately failed in too many ways. I can't give a 3.5 star review and they don't deserve 4 stars, so 3 it is.Presentation was unimpressive to say the least. If you were considering these as a gift, the packaging may need some work. Knives are inserted into cheap white cardboard sheaths, have a plastic tip at the end of each blade and are tossed into a cardboard box.But then you come to the disaster that is the knife block. I took it from its packaging and spotted spots of grease here and there on the black paint. Next, what I thought was dust on it was actually where the spray paint they used didn’t evenly cover the full block. There are areas of brownish base, which I’d thought was dust but is just the uneven paint. Every hole cut for the knives is ragged, with small slivers of wood attached. The black paint doesn’t extend the internal length of the blade openings and you can see where they stopped with the paint. There is apparently a built-in sharpener. I didn’t try it. There are no directions for its use in the small brochure provided in the package. The sizing wasn’t provided but my photo shows that the base, because it has to tilt back in order to stabilize (as designed) requires about 9”. But that doesn’t account for the upper portion, so I’d advise allowing about a foot of back to front counter space for the block.If you can just discount this block, the knives themselves are quite handsome. They’re full tang, which in my opinion makes for a more stable knife. They’re nicely balanced and fit my hand well. The blades are sharp, but these are knives and I’d expect that. It’s the knives that earn the stars here, the block that takes them away.In the end this is not a high end knife set and is overpriced when quality is factored in. I wouldn’t gift them, and I can’t recommend them.

I tested them on chicken and tomatoes, and they sliced through effortlessly.Comfort & Balance:The handles feel natural in hand, and the weight distribution makes them feel well-balanced while cutting.Built-in Sharpener:The integrated sharpener works well for maintaining the blades, though for more precise sharpening, a standalone sharpener might be preferable.Edge Retention & Durability:So far, the blades are holding their edge well, but I’ll update my thoughts after longer use. My only concern is accidentally scratching the knife block when inserting or removing the blades.. Something to be mindful of.Knife Block & Storage:The block is sturdy and doesn’t tip over. The layout is mostly great, though I would have positioned the scissors slot a little higher since it’s close to some knives. That said, everything is easy to access.Price vs. Value:At $135+, this set is definitely on the higher end. While the quality and sharpness are there, I’d be more enthusiastic about recommending it if it were priced slightly lower.The good:- Sharp and well-balanced- Comfortable to use with great hand feel- Sturdy knife block with built-in sharpenerThe Iffy:- Knife block could be prone to scratches- On the pricier sideFinal Verdict:If you’re looking for a sharp, stylish, and reliable knife set that holds up to daily use, this one is worth considering..
