Corners get shaved off the butter, but works well.

I’ve been wanting one of these a while. I’ve never had one before, so I have nothing to compare it to. This butter slicer feels and looks like plastic with metallic paint. The wire *might* be replaceable if there’s ever a need, since there are two screws on either end.Pro: It slices an entire stick of butter at once. This is going to be convenient for individual use and also for some recipes that require the butter to be sliced and mixed-in cold. (Measurement-wise, there are 18 slices from a 1/2 cup butter stick, so you can’t quite use each slice as a 1/2 TBSP. They are slightly smaller than 1/2 TBSP each.)Con: The slicer has rounded inner edges and is slightly shorter than ideal, so the corners of the stick of butter will always be shaved off. That’s annoying, especially since it’s such a simple thing that could have been avoided, but it’s a relatively small quantity that gets shaved off. I don’t know if all of these butter slicers are sized and shaped the same, so some comparison might be helpful if this is something you want to avoid. See pictures.Overall, I really like this butter slicer. It’s very convenient, easy, and fast to slice an entire stick of butter. I am glad I ordered this butter slicer and wish I had tried one sooner. It’s going to be a very useful gadget to have on hand.
