This Beautiful Little Butter Crock Keeps Butter Cool and Fresh but Easily Spreadable
I absolutely love this butter crock. It is really beautiful and looks very nice on my kitchen shelf above the toaster. It's a solidly made piece and easy to use.There is a black line on the inside of the crock indicating the amount of water required. All I had to do was leave my butter out of the refrigerator for an hour, fill the crock to the line with cool water, put the softened butter into the bell shaped top and close the top. I change the water every few days. I wash the crock when the butter is gone and then fill it up again. I have been using it ever since I got it. When I go away for a while I dump the water, put the crock and the butter in the refrigerator and take it out and add water when I get back.The butter is soft and fresh every time I need it for a piece of toast. My own little secret is that I keep the really good butter in there. You know, the kind that is a bit more expensive but creamier. It's a nice little luxury and I know that it will always be soft, fresh and delicious when I want it, just perfect on a nice piece of sour dough toast or an English muffin.

Somehow it magically keeps my butter fresh in room temperature!
This butter crock not only looks great, but does an excellent job storing my butter out of the fridge and keeping it from molding.I have always hated keeping my butter in the fridge, making so much harder to use. When it sits at room temperature, it's so much easier to scoop out the amount you want and you can spread it on toast or anything else so nice without having to leave it sit out or microwaving it for a few seconds to make it workable. Of coarse the downside of leaving your butter out is that it may go bad very quick, especially in the summer if it's warmer in your home. This butter crock does an excellent job solving that issue! It keeps my butter super fresh and also looks cute sitting on my counter!I'm not sure how it's able to keep butter fresh, but it does.Its very simple to use also, you just scoop your butter in the cup, add water and slide the cup of butter upside down into the bottom part and somehow it keeps the butter fresh, soft, and spreadable!This butter crock is very much worth the price and I'm so happy that I'm able to leave my butter out without worrying about it getting nasty mold on it, definitely a huge plus in my opinion.

The ceramic body feels substantial and well-made, helps to maintain a consistent temperature, while the lid fits securely to protect the butter from air, debris and odors.The using it is simple: you pack the butter into the base (generally only one stick will fit), add a little cold water in the bottom (up to the line - see picture), and place the lid (bell into the well) on top. The water creates an airtight seal that keeps the butter fresh and soft—no hard, refrigerated butter to struggle with.It’s easy to use, easy to clean, and the size is perfect for our household. A slightly unconventional way to keep butter fresh and spreadable.
Butter isn’t something we use much of in our house, except maybe for the occasional mashed potatoes, garlic bread, or sauteed item. I normally keep just a few tablespoons of butter at room temperature in a covered dish, but that’s not ideal. I thought this butter crock was interesting.Also known as butter keepers and butter bells, a butter crock uses cold water to keep butter fresh. Attached to the underside of the lid, is an inverted bell. You fill the bell with butter and put some cold water in the crock. When you place the lid back on the crock, the bell becomes inverted with the surface of the butter submerged in the water. The water forms an airtight seal against the surface of the butter, keeping it fresh. The water should be changed every three days. Some suggest adding a little salt to the water to inhibit any bacterial that could cause the butter to go rancid.Butter crocks have been in use since the 18th century, and they’re still in use today, so you can’t argue with the technology. I like the understated design of this one, with the raised design and crock being all one color. The bell is a simple shape that is easy to clean and fill. The crock has a fill line inside, which is very helpful. I use mine, because it really does keep butter fresh and spreadable. Even if you choose not to use it, it makes a lovely kitchen decor item.
