Pretty, well made butter crock that keeps real butter perfectly soft
I’ve been wanting a butter bell crock for a while now—they’ve been popping up everywhere in kitchen stores and online—but I always hesitated because they seemed overpriced, usually running $35 to $45. That felt steep for something that’s more of a kitchen indulgence than a necessity. When I saw this one from Jersinwei offered through Vine, I was excited to try it out. It’s currently selling on Amazon for around $21, which is much more affordable than the ones I’ve seen at other retailers and still looked well made.Ordering was a little frustrating as I kept getting backorder notices and that shipping was delayed, and it didn’t finally ship until over a month after I ordered it. Thankfully, mine arrived in perfect condition—no cracks, no chips, and packed very securely in plenty of Styrofoam (see my photos).The crock itself is a lovely creamy beige that blends nicely with my dishes and looks great sitting out on the counter. It’s made of thick glazed ceramic and feels sturdy. I ran it through the dishwasher and it came out just fine. I softened one stick of salted butter on the countertop for about an hour and packed it into the top of the crock. It can hold a little more than one stick. I added about ¼ inch of water to the base to create the seal, and tossed in a pinch of salt after reading that it helps keep the butter from molding, especially if you are storing unsalted butter.I’ve only had it a few days, but the butter has stayed fresh with no signs of mold. My husband and I both love having soft butter ready to go for toast and bread. We love real butter, but it’s impossible to spread straight from the fridge, so we usually end up buying the spreadable margarines that don’t taste nearly as good. Now we can actually use real butter every day and stop buying the spreads.I love this little kitchen gadget! It’s simple, it works exactly the way it’s supposed to, and we’re using it every day. Highly recommend if you’re a fan of real butter.

Jersinwei White Ceramic Butter Crock with Lid review
This butter crock is both beautiful and genuinely useful. The ceramic feels sturdy and well made, and the embossed design adds a simple, elegant touch that looks great left out on the counter. The white finish works with just about any kitchen décor.It keeps butter perfectly soft and spreadable without turning oily or messy, and the lid fits securely while still being easy to lift. It’s the kind of kitchen piece that quietly does its job while also looking like a decorative accent.This would make a lovely housewarming or hostess gift, but it’s just as satisfying to use every day. Practical, attractive, and exactly what a butter crock should be. One word of advice; although these crocks are meant for butter to be left out on the counter, the water should be changed daily, not every two or three days as is commonly advised. The butter bell is fairly large, and does not leave much room for fresh water.

Beautifully Crafted
First, it’s a lovely ceramic crock, beautifully crafted. I had heard about this method of butter storage but had never seen one in use. Once I unpacked it from the box, I didn’t know how to proceed and didn’t see any instructions. Finally, I noticed something on the side of the box. It was the directions for use in a pale yellow and ridiculously small font on an orange background. Luckily, I have a large, strong magnifying glass with built-in flashlight. It took my husband and me many attempts to decipher what they were trying to say.After washing and drying it I added one stick of butter (it will hold one and one-half), measured the water and put the crock in the cabinet. The following morning when I wanted to butter my toast, the butter had fallen out of the top and was sitting in the water. Apparently, I hadn’t packed it in well enough. I added the extra half-stick of butter and really packed it in tight. The next time I used it the butter was soft and still in the lid. Good result. However, next we had sub-zero temperatures, and the butter was quite cold and difficult to spread.Bottom line is I do like it and want to make the adjustment from butter dish and lid to French Butter Crock. I’m deducting a point for those instructions, though.
