Love the colors, very nice quality porcelain butter tub that holds a lot of butter
I ordered this simply lovely tub style butter dish with bamboo lid because as a total butter fanatic, I much prefer butter "bowls" versus "plates". I really like that my butter doesn't slide off the bottom when using a tub style of butter dish.This arrived securely packaged in a retail-style box and in perfect condition. The workmanship on this porcelain butter dish is overall outstanding. It's formed perfectly. It's absolutely lovely, downright beautiful colors. I particularly love the weight of it; it's got a high quality "heft" to it, making it the perfect weight so it doesn't easily slide around the table/countertop when you're taking butter out of it. It does not feel or look cheap.The bamboo lid fits very snugly – I would prefer it be a wee bit less snug, but a snug fit is probably better and safer for food handling reasons. The bamboo is smooth, and the silicon gasket is easy to remove for cleaning. If you find the lid too snug, you can remove the silicon gasket; the lid will rest without issue in the tub of this butter dish, although loosely.This is larger than any other tub-style butter dish or butter bell I've ever owned. US West, US East, and European sized butter sticks easily fit in this. It's not just for butter; you could use it to store cream cheese or anything else you want to. Since it's microwave safe, you could even use it for leftovers. It's easy to clean and is dishwasher safe, too.I'm very pleased with its appearance, quality of finish, functionality, heft and usefulness. This is a really beautiful, high quality and versatile butter dish, and I think it's a good value.

Not what I would call a butter dish but a beautiful piece of multi-use kitchenware just the same.
Okay, so I have one of the traditional white, ceramic butter dishes with the body piece that lifts off the plate on which the butter sits. That is what I think k of when I think k of a butter dish. That lift-away lid that reveals the butter on a plate/dish beneath.If his piece works exactly the opposite. It is a container in which you can place your butter, or anything else,and then fit on a dry snug fitting lid with a rubber gasket. However, rubber gasket or not it is still not airtight. This dish is also quite large. Large enough to hold an entire pound of butter. I feel like unless you have a large family or are eating really unhealthy that amount of butter would likely spoil. I mean the entire purpose of a butter dish is to have small amounts of butter softened for spreading while staying within a safe range. I don't feel like this gigantic butter dish can offer that. Unless, of course, you just want to store your butter in a really pretty dish and refrigerate it anyway. If that's the Cass then this is the dish for you because it is absolutely beautiful. I am really pleased to have it even though I won't be using it in its intended role.It is freezer safe.It is oven safe.It is microwave safe.It is dishwasher safe.I think what I'm going to do is order a set of them and use them as dessert-ware. I can just see individual (with leftovers) sized cobblers or tiramisu or layered desserts especially since they can be used hot or cold. I'd love it even as just a little storage piece because it so pretty.I'm a big fan of this little dish and I can definitely can see it becoming one of my favorite pieces.The price is right in line with what I'd expect to.pay for good, quality ceramic kitchenware.8 out of 10 (only because the lid is not airtight), highly recommend.

Large for a butter dish, lid fits weird.
I had a plastic butter dish that got too close to some heat and part of it melted. I thought this would be a great replacement since it's ceramic.Overall it's not bad, but it's over twice the size of the old one. I don't know about you, but counter space is a premium for me with all of our kitchen utensils and gadgets.The dish itself is solid, thick porcelain. If I wanted to, it could hold at least 4 sticks of butter in it and not reach the top. I only tend to use 1 stick at a time though, so this is a bit overkill. And, since it is so big, it's a little awkward to get the butter out since it's pretty deep.The other issue is the lid, which is bamboo and a rubber gasket, doesn't fit the dish flush. It's not a huge deal, but just a little weird. It does have a pretty tight seal though, although for most butter dishes the lid just sits on it. A tight seal isn't really necessary and this one is a bit hard to remove.Overall, I like the look. It adds a splash of color to the kitchen counter, but I'm not thrilled with the practicality of it for me. It's a bit too large, mainly too deep, with too tight and finicky of a lid for quick and easy access to my room temperature butter. I'll use it for now as a replacement for the melted one, because I need something, but I'm going to keep looking for something better.
