Finally found a good butter dish.

I really like this butter dish because the top flips open and it has guards on each end that keep the butter in place. It also has a little knife attached to the back that is useful. Just wish it was other than plastic. Aside from that, very pleased with it.

Holds two butter sticks, very sturdy plastic

This dish is nice and seems well made. The attached hinged lid is a great addition and keeps the contents clean, and the dish is wide enough to hold two sticks of butter if desired. There is a raised plate at each end for scraping your knife clean, which is a nice idea and fairly useful. My main criticism is not of the dish itself but of the rather useless plastic butter knife that is included; it stores in a rack behind the dish, which would be convenient except for the fact that due to its thickness it cuts butter about as well as a dowel, and is a little hard to scrape clean. This dish is nice and deserves a better knife; I pitched ours and replaced it with a standard stainless butter knife which fits nicely in the rack, and we now have a very useful dish/knife assembly.

Works Well

I love this thing - fits two 1/4 lb sticks or one 1/2lb bar. The rubber feet on the bottom prevent sliding during use, and the side rails inside keep the butter still, and provide a nice place to scrape excess.I don’t use the included knife, so don’t care about how well that sits. Also to wash, I don’t ever disconnect the lid - just pop it face down and open on the top rack of the dishwasher, and save the stress on the hinges.
