Good but be carful of the lid.

I love having a butter dish that is easily accessible. For a house with lots of small kids maybe a latching container would be better but I just put this on top of the fridge where they can’t reach. But the top does slide off easily. I like that it has the marking on it for measuring as well.

So happy to have covered butter!

I was given a crystal butter dish and enjoyed using it, but it had no lid so I kept my eyes open for a covered butter dish and this one was the first recommendation. I’m glad I ordered it! The lid is a bit lightweight for my taste but I like my kitchen items to be a little on the heavier side - as an ex-professional chef and baker, it just feels higher quality to me. Anyway, even with the lighter weight of the lid, you can tell it’s nice and thick and won’t break just from using it, and I love the wood base plate. The measurements come in handy! I left my first stick of butter wrapped, and the lid is heavy enough to bend the paper back down and stay in place in you are getting lazy about it. Second stick I unwrapped and placed between the measurement lines, and it’s been super convenient to have!

Nice dish but height and length are half inch short

I love the convenience of room temperature butter. I have a metal butter holder, but in a family with 3 teenagers, I often open it up and find it empty. So I was looking for a see through lid so I can easily refill it as it gets low. Yeah, you can try nagging kids, but this is way less headache.I like the simple design, it fits in well in our kitchen. I tried putting the butter on a little bit of the wrap it comes in, but that causes it to slide all over and dirty up the plastic. So directly on the wood it goes. It has great grip. You can see me holding it at a 45 degree angle to get the height measurement.I was surprised to find that the dish is only 7" long and not the 7.5" listed in the listing pictures. The width is 3". The height is only 2.38" tall, not the 2.8" listed. This is the main reason I removed a star. The dish still fits standard butter sizes, so not a huge deal, but something of note.A visual thing I don't like is the cast mark on the top middle of the plastic cover. You can see it right under my finger. It makes it look like plastic to me, since I can see the casting mark. It's a good clear plastic, so other than the mark, it looks like glass.The Tablespoon marking are different on either side, depending on how your butter is sized. I compared the marks to the butter wrapper and they're a little different, so just use it as a general guide.I love the color of the wood and the marked lines. The lid fits well and the finger grooves are helpful. Overall, a great little butter dish I'm pretty happy with.

Beautiful wood, perfect size

This dish is made of a solid, fairly lightweight wood. It is carved perfectly. It is smooth to the touch. The staining on the wood is a beautiful color and even throughout. It almost has a shine.The dish easily fits a standard stick of butter with plenty of room to spare.There are measurements imprinted on the wood base in both directions. They both say tbsp, but they are not equal measurements. The side with the larger space between notches is the measurement for an actual tbsp. The notches match perfectly with those printed on my butter wrapper. I'm not sure what measurement the closer together notches are supposed to be.This dish comes with a thick plastic lid. The lid is as clear as glass and appears to be quite durable. The lid fits perfectly just inside the lifted edges of the base.At such an affordable price, this dish is beautiful and a great value for the money.
