Great magnets, nice wood
I like all the magnets embedded into this butter dish, and I really like that the bottom panel side box, and lid are all separate pieces, so I have access to butter any way I want.The acacia wood is well made and finished. The box is sturdy and well built. The butter knife has lots of options to it, allowing me to cut pats of butter, scrape the butter log to get a bulk of butter, or if my butter is really cold, I can scrape it to make stringy butter noodles through the side or end holes.In addition to the base connecting magnetically to the box, and the box connecting magnetically to the lid, the knife connects magnetically to the lid as well. The whole thing stays secure. The magnets are strong enough to hold the base in place with the weight of a stick of butter as well, which is convenient.The overall size is great. A single stick of butter fits with enough room to cut a slice without it falling off.Bottom line, I really like this butter container. It's easy to use, it has enough space to keep things clean, the magnets are super convenient, and I think it looks really good. Overall a good value purchase.

This is not your mother's butter keeper. You can open the top, if you want to peel strips off the top of a stick of butter. You can lift the top and sides off if you want to slice butter off a pat at a time -- or if you want to just put the bottom out as a tray to serve butter with hot bread.It's the magnets that make this versatility possible. They hold the pieces in the proper orientation even if it gets moved around. I wouldn't say that this thing is 100% air-tight, but I wouldn't say that about the glass or ceramic butter keepers I've had in the past.The knife is multi-function, something I've never seen before in a butter knife. You can use it to slice, shred, or peel strips from a stick of butter. And, or course, to spread it on bread or crackers or whatever. And it stays with the keeper, in a matching slot cut into the top, so it isn't going to end up lost in some utility drawer.It's wide enough to hold standard American sticks of butter, but also the wider ones you get from Europe.I've never seen a butter keeper made of wood before. This has been sanded and polished and oiled so that it's not going to get stained. And you can wash it without fear of screwing up the wood.This thing is a perfect blend of art and technology. It's as gorgeous as it is ingenious.

Nice butter dish
I've been looking for different ways to store my butter. I was drawn to this set by the knife included with it.It's a very nice set. The wood has a matte finish and matches other acacia wood pieces I have in my kitchen. The magnets are strong. I can lift the unit by the side or the top and the pieces will not fall apart. I have to pull them apart to get it separated, which is a plus for me.The knife is great for using chilled butter and is probably my favorite part of this set. To be clear, it is not a fantastic chef quality knife, but for butter this thing is perfect. You can shave it, curl it, scape it when the butter is chilled or just lather it on if the butter is soft. The fact that it stores nicely on the lid so is readily available when you want it without having to search in your kitchen drawers is a plus.Very happy with this set.
