This is a nice butter dish and love the feature on the sides to scoop butter onto the knife. Magnet is not strong though and I don't like the cheap plastic feel of the dish, but the functionality works great.
I like the magnet on top, the side things to scoop and scrap the butter. The top is not as clear as I thought it would be. Size is good-holds a whole stick of butter.
I love this butter tray! I haven’t been this excited about a simple kitchen item since the can opener that crimps the lid so that there’s no sharp edge! I looked at almost every classic butter tray on the market, and this is by far my favorite. It’s a good, simple, smart, elegant design. I love that the lid has feet that allow you set it down right-side-up. I love that the knife attaches magnetically to the lid. I love the oddball little knife itself. I love the little ramps at either end. Let me clarify something, though, that I was unsure of when I ordered. When I was looking at this before purchasing, one thing I couldn’t quite discern was whether or not the lid somehow “latched” to the tray. The demo video showed a girl carrying the whole assembly with one hand, which made it seem like perhaps it did. To be clear, it does not latch. The lid merely rests on the tray via gravity. However, the “feet” on the lid do rest inside the little slots at either end of the tray, which helps it “seat” and stay put; but if you’re picking the whole assembly up, one-handed or otherwise, you’ll need to grasp the tray (which most adults should be able to easily do). My only slight criticism is that I wish the rubber feet on the bottom of the tray were more grippy. After slicing off a pad of butter and swiping it toward the ramp in order to scoop it up, if you’re doing this one-handed, the tray sometimes slides on the counter or table top with your knife swipe. I’m not sure how exactly to remedy that, but I feel like perhaps a thicker strip of softer, more silicon-type rubber might grip a bit better. That’s pretty nit-picky, though. Overall, l love it.
Simple, but effective design and well made. Yeah, it's a butter dish, but it has simple effective features that just makes sense. A thin knife that makes slicing or scraping your butter easy which is held on with a magnet that work well at holding it, but not so strong that it pulls the lid off when taking it off. No more "where's the butter knife?" On the inside it has edges to scrape off excess butter from the knife. The lid has a special design that is slightly raised to keep any butter that has gotten on the edges from getting on your surface, yet it sits gap free on the dish. Finally it has rubber feet on the bottom that keeps it from sliding or scratching the surface like a ceramic one may do. My only complaint would be the price, but obviously I thought it was worth it or I wouldn't have bought it and I'd do it again. Very happy with it.
This is a great butter dish! It holds the butter really well and washes really easily. It’s really nice that it has the knife that magnatizes to the top as well.
Love the thinking that went into this... It's a fully modern take on something that's been unchanged forever. It's also nearly $20. A basic plastic example can be had for $4. What justifies the nearly 5x price?Pretty much everything not perfect in traditional butter dishes has been addressed. Rubber, non-slip feet, a lid that can stand on an always-clean base, side ramps to scoop up a toppled butter slice, even a magnet to hold a butter knife in place - and a butter knife to go with it.But who needs another butter knife? And once loaded up with a stick of (west coast) butter... well, it's kind of a tight fit. Honestly, this would be so much better if it was only 10% larger. I wish the manufacturer would drop the small, thin butter knife and invest the savings in a slightly larger size. Then it'd perfectly fit my needs... and justify it's high price.
