Functional and stunning!
I got the end grain acacia wood cutting board, and it's so stunning in person. It might be because it's got that dark wood with a checkerboard-looking design, but it's something that I'd want to leave out on the counter even when I'm not using it. The photos on the listing really don't do this cutting board justice. I also like the Calphalon logo on the top center of the board, too. It's really classy. It's a good size for everyday use. I took a photo of a copy paper on top of it for size reference. It's got a nice weight to it, so it stays put while chopping, and it's got rubber legs that are screwed into the bottom so it's not going to slide around.I'm not surprised one bit by the quality, I mean, it's Calphalon after all, and well-made in the way their products usually are. The quality is exactly what I expected from their kitchen line. The edges are smooth and I love the little groove around the edges that keep the juices from dripping down on the counter. I've only used it for making meals so far, but I'm going to be using it as a charcuterie board for the big game on Sunday, so I'm kind of excited to show it off!Like any real wood cutting board I've owned, I know it's going to need your basic TLC, like hand wash only, stand it up to dry, oil it every so often, etc. I think this cutting board will last a long time and look great the whole time.Update: I added the photo of the charcuterie board I ended up making for Super Bowl on this cutting board. The colors of the board is just so gorgeous!

Stunning Butcher-Block Quality in a Perfect Daily Size
This Calphalon cutting board is one of those rare kitchen finds that is as much a showpiece as it is a workhorse. If you appreciate a rustic aesthetic, the end-grain acacia wood creates a stunning checkerboard pattern that honestly looks even better in person than in the listing photos. The stability is easily top-tier. This board is thick and has some serious weight to it, so between the solid build and the four rubber grips on the bottom, it doesn’t budge an inch. It feels incredibly safe and secure even when I’m working through tougher vegetables. Because it is an end-grain board, your knives are cutting between the wood fibers rather than across them, making it much gentler on your blades. The design is also very functional for everyday use. The built-in juice grooves are deep enough to actually catch liquids before they ruin the countertop. At roughly 13.6 by 9.5 inches, it hits a great size for daily meal prep while remaining compact enough to fit in a kitchen drawer, though it’s beautiful enough to leave on display. Just be sure to give it a quick coat of food-grade mineral oil every now and then to keep that striking look and prevent the wood from drying out. Overall, it is a high-quality, durable choice that really elevates the look of the kitchen.

Good looking cutting board, probably durable
I bought this Calphalon EdgeGuard end grain acacia cutting board hoping it would outlast the traditional grain boards I have owned before. My most recent boards are only about 5 months old and already warping, so I wanted something sturdier and more long-lasting. The end grain construction seems like it may hold up much better over time. The board looks very nice, with a rich, dark color scheme that feels high end. It has a wonderful water-repelling finish, and you can actually see the water droplets bead up and sit on the surface in one of my photos. I am hoping to maintain that protection with regular applications of cutting board oil.It is a nice thickness and feels solid without being overly heavy. The rubber feet on the bottom help keep it from slipping around on the counter. For now, I would give this a 5 out of 5. The real test will be how it holds up after about 6 months of regular use, and I plan to update my review if anything changes.

Good quality but expensive & can only use one side
Overall, I would say this is a good quality end-grain cutting board with a butcher-block style with perimeter grooved edge for catching juices. It has a nice rich wood grain color. The size is easier to handle for smaller tasks than my larger cutting board that I keep on my counter. However, it’s constructed from solid acacia wood not teak. Acacia is not as resistant to water like teak wood. I really don’t like that they put their logo on the center top of the board. Rubber feet screwed into the bottom of the board are both a pro and a con - they stabilize the board but then they make it not reversible.PROS- Quality - Good quality end-grain cutting board with a butcher-block style with perimeter grooved edge for catching juices.- Special Features - End-grain with a butcher-block style cutting board helps preserve the sharpness of knives. Perimeter groove for catching drips.- Looks - the end-grain with a rich colored wood butcher-block style is a classic look.CONS- Constructed from solid acacia wood not teak. Acacia is not as resistant to water like teak wood.- I really don’t like that they put their logo on the center top of the board.- Rubber feet screwed into the bottom of the board are both a pro and a con - they stabilize the board but then they make it not reversible.- They mention “Carved side handles provide a strong and balance grip,” however I don’t see any handles. I only see the perimeter groove for catching drips.- Price - Expensive.OTHER- Cleaning - NOT dishwasher safe, hand wash only.- Size - 13.6"L x 9.5"W x 0.8”D
