I recently added new ceramic coated non-stick pans to my kitchen and I love them! But they require silicone utensils that protect the surface, and I needed to add a few new utensils.⭐ I've used Calphalon cookware for decades! They have an amazing warranty that I actually used to replace a pan that was almost 20 years old!➜ But do note, these utensils offer a "limited 5 year warranty", which is still really good for utensils, but not the standard Calphalon cookware warranty.➡️ When I started looking at these utensils, it took me a minute to figure out that there are two different handle styles in this new line. I ended up getting a couple of both, so here's how they compare.➡️ THIS NEW UTENSIL LINE HAS TWO DISTINCT HANDLE STYLES➜ Calphalon partnered with Gibson Home for these utensils, and there are two distinct handle styles: non‑slip silicone handles (like this one) and stainless steel handles.➜ The non-slip silicone handles come in navy or cream and do not include a hanging hole, while the stainless steel handles do.➡️ THE SILICONE HANDLE IS BEEFY AND EASY TO HOLD WITH A COOL END CAP.➜ The silicone handled versions are fully dishwasher safe, as long as the utensil head itself is also silicone (like this turner).➜ The silicone handle is slightly thicker than the aluminum style and has a rounded square profile that is great to hold.➜ The silicone handle also includes an aluminum end cap with the Calphalon logo, which gives this a sharp, finished look.➜ FYI, I noticed that the metal spoon I ordered with this same handle is not dishwasher safe. So really only matters if you want a completely matching set that are all dishwasher safe.➡️ THE STAINLESS STEEL HANDLE STYLE OFFERS THE SAME UTENSILS, BUT THE HANDLES ARE DIFFERENT.➜ The stainless steel handle versions are fully dishwasher safe and clean up without any issues.➜ Those handles are slightly thinner, but still more substantial than almost every other utensil I own, with a rounded but angular profile that feels sturdy.➜ The molded Calphalon logo on the stainless handle looks good and well designed.➡️ BOTH TYPES OF UTENSIL HANDLES USE THE SAME HEADS.➜ The heads of the turners (for example) are basically identical between the silicone and aluminum handles.➜ The silicone heads feel weighty in a satisfying way without being too heavy.➜ With either handle, flipping and lifting food is easy. I can flip a big heavy burger or a pancake easily.➜ Silicone rigidity is "just right", neither too floppy nor too stiff. It has just enough flex to slide under food and enough structure to lift it.➜ The beveled edge on this turner makes getting under food easy, especially in nonstick pans. I can get it under a fish filet without ripping the skin.➜ These silicone ends have not stained, warped, or become misshapen in any way.➡️ I LIKE THE THICKER SILICONE HANDLE AS IT’S EASIER ON MY HANDS.➜ For longer cooking tasks, having a bit of a beefier handle is a plus.Overall, I love this little turner! This is one of my favorite pieces from the new Calphalon utensil line. I really like the shape and the perfect flex plus rigidity balance of the material.
I cook often and one of the things I cannot stand is to scratch my cookware. I had a set of Teflon coated cookware for a lot of years that held up pretty well, but when it was time to upgrade, I went with a higher quality set. I chose to purchase a cookware set that was rated as ‘scratch resistant’ and one that was ok to use metal utensils in. After testing out the actual scratch resistance of the saucepan, I found out that it was not as scratch resistant as I had hoped. It was at that point that I decided that it was probably best to use silicone cooking utensils going forward even if the cookware is OK to use metal in. I got rid of all of my metal cooking utensils and started to replace them with silicone versions.I ordered this navy blue Calphalon slotted spatula to use with my new cookware. It is 100% silicone, heat resistant, and safe to use on non-stick cookware. It is a very appealing navy blue color and is safe to be washed by hand or in the dishwasher. Calphalon is a brand that has been known for making quality kitchenware since 1963. My mom used to use Calphalon cookware when my brother and I were growing up. It is a trusted and reliable brand. There is so much functionality with this piece as I can use it when I cook eggs, make sauces, pancakes, quesadillas, etc. The spatula has several holes to let any excess oils or grease drain out of your food. This spatula, being less than $13 at the time of writing this review is a fantastic value. I am satisfied with this purchase, and will still always consider Calpahalon when purchasing new kitchenware.Title of the item being reviewed:Calphalon Edge Silicone Flexible Slotted Turner - Navy Blue
These new calphalon edge utensils are great - and I have been steadily adding pieces to my kitchen. I recently upgraded to ceramic-coated nonstick cookware and wanted high-quality silicone tools that would protect the surface. This turner works great - and is much better than the lower quality ones I had previously purchased on amazon. The silicone head has just the right balance of flexibility and rigidity - just enough give to slide easily under food, but sturdy enough to lift and flip heavier items like burgers, fish, or pancakes without bending. The beveled edge makes a noticeable difference and helps glide under delicate foods without tearing or sticking. The silicone itself feels thick, smooth, and durable, and so far it hasn’t stained or warped. My previous turners had a 'sticky' silicone feel to them which made them tricky for cooking some items - but this one doesn't have that problem at all.I chose the version with the non-slip silicone handle - and the color goes well in my kitchen and matches the others I have from this set. The handle is slightly thicker and very comfortable to hold. It feels good in the hand and has a nice finished look with the aluminum end cap and calphalon branding. Everything cleans up easily, and while it is dishwasher safe - I've been hand washing to keep it looking new.It looks great, feels premium, and performs exactly how a good silicone turner should. One of my favorite new kitchen tools and an easy recommendation.
