It’s well made and works well for most ice creams I keep at home.
First off, this is a kitchen tool by Calphalon, so I'm not surprised one bit that it's well made. You can tell the quality right when you pick it up. The taupe color is so beautiful and looks premium, too.It's a stainless steel ice cream scoop with a rubber handle, and it definitely has some weight to it. The scoop itself is wide and almost bowl-shaped, like the ones I see fancy gelato shops use here in town, and it makes nice round scoops once you get going.With that said, it's not like a miracle ice cream scooper. You don't have to run it under hot water, but it might help with certain types of ice cream. I had no issues scooping out most of the ice cream in my freezer, but I had a So Delicious sugar-free mint ice cream I tried to eat last night that was as hard as a rock, and it was just as hard and difficult to scoop out when I tried to use this Calphalon ice cream scooper and my other generic ice cream scooper, too. Lol! It's a good looking scoop I'm happy to have in my kitchen.

beautiful set!
I absolutely love this! I got a few different utensils from the same set. I've never really had matching sets of kitchenware before, I would just buy whatever I needed when I needed. Let me tell you how nice it is to open my drawer and see these beautiful utensils! The dark blue rubberized handles, the sleek yet simple design. They look REALLY good and will look amazing in any kitchen.I use these scoops primarily for baking cookies, you get a nice perfectly even batch of cookies. It's super helpful and I love that the release mechanism makes unmolding the balls so easy. It's so fast too! It's very satisfying to click to the point where I can tell you it feels very durable because I just idly click it as I'm standing there. It moves smoothly and quickly and makes this feel premium.The size of the scoops are on the smaller side, so just depends on what size scoop you want. Good for small cookies. Great for hard ice creams
I got tired of scooping frozen ice cream with a scoop that hurt my hands, so I picked this as an upgrade because it looked to be angled more like a shovel thana scoop and because it looks premium. I was right. This is much easier on my hands, easier to grip, and overall more comfortable. It looks good and is weighty, as well. I'm glad I upgraded!

Best Ice cream scoop Ive ever used!

Frozen treats are no match for Calphalon!
Honestly, we’ve lived without a dedicated ice cream scooper for years. Like peasants we’ve scooped using whatever large spoon you can find in the drawer. After one particularly frozen ice cream folded a spoon, we knew it was time to make a change.This scooper made me wonder why we didn’t make a change sooner. Not only does it withstand the firmest of ice creams, it handles so nicely!The weight of the scooper feels great in your hand, providing leverage against frozen cookie dough balls, or hardened chocolate fudge swirls. The curl of the ice cream is so satisfying and maybe even makes it taste better. Okay that might be an exaggeration, but if you have slacked on a dedicated spoon for ice cream, this one will not disappoint!The rubber handle is soft and grippy, so you only need one hand. The other hand can hold the ice cream tub. It also boasts that this is for left and right handers (which I had never considered a concern).This scooper recommends hand washing which should help keep the rubber handle in peak shape for years to come.
