Well-made, full-size tools that feel built to last

I ordered this set to replace some older utensils and so far I am really impressed with these. The set covers what you would expect (and need) for daily cooking and baking needs. In my photos you can see the full lineup on my counter, the unwrapped pieces (they were all shipped nicely wrapped up), and the slotted turner sitting in a frying pan just for scale. Everything is full size, not mini. The silicone heads have a smooth, matte finish with just the right amount of flex, and the stainless handles on the spoon, turner, and slotted turner give them a solid, well balanced feel. The two scrapers are standouts, too. The edges are nice and thin, so they actually scrape bowls and pan corners instead of just smearing stuff. The teak wood spoon and turner are nicely finished with rounded edges and comfortable handles; grain and color variation look great and both pieces in my set are smooth with no rough spots. The contents match what’s printed on the box and what Calphalon lists for this set: silicone spoon, silicone turner, slotted silicone turner, angled silicone scraper, skinny silicone scraper, teak wood spoon, and teak wood turner. I know some people call things by a different name. The set is ideal for nonstick cookware, the metal-sleeved handles include end loops for hanging, and the stainless pieces are all dishwasher safe (wood requires hand washing). The box indicates a limited 5-year warranty, which is a nice safety net for a utensil set that will get a lot of use in my kitchen. The build quality is what I would have expected from Calphalon. The molding lines are minimal, the silicone transitions to the steel sleeves are very clean, and there’s no rattle in the ratchet-style seam because there isn’t one. The wood pieces aren’t varnished heavily, so they won’t chip into food; I’ll give them a light food-grade oil from time to time to keep them looking new. The box on my set states silicone tools are dishwasher safe and teak wood is hand-wash only, which is basically what I would do anyway. If you like to hang you kitchen utensils, the oval end holes are sized for standard hooks. I also want to note that the stainless sections wipe down easily. If you’re comparing price, you can definitely find cheaper sets. What you usually give up is head shape, edge finish on the scrapers, and the feel of a proper metal-sleeved handle. This set feels like something I’ll still be using years from now, even past the five year warranty. My photos show the finish and proportions better than any product shot can.Pros:• Full seven-piece coverage with useful shapes, not filler pieces• Silicone heads have good flex and clean, thin scraper edges• Stainless handle sleeves add weight and balance; easy to clean• Teak wood spoon and turner are smooth, comfortable, and nicely grained• End loops for hanging and tidy storage• Box calls out dishwasher safe for silicone, hand-wash for teak• Limited 5-year warranty noted on packaging• Works nicely with nonstick cookwareCons:• No ladle or spaghetti server in the set• Wood pieces need hand washing and the occasional oiling• Heat rating isn’t printed on the tools themselves• Price sits higher than generic sets, though quality backs it up• Only one silicone spoon; some cooks may want a second

Calphalon Prime 7 Piece Sillicone and Teak Wood Kitchen Utensils

Excellent assortment of practically every kitchen utensil you would need from working with soups to meats and eggs. The teak wood spatula and spoon are works of art and function, you'll at first just want to hang them up and appreciate them rather than use them in your kitchen! The stainless steel on the full and slotted spatulas and the spoon are hefty and feel great in your hand when you use them and look great complemented with the taupe silicon. The scraper and turner are just silicon and work well for their function. Calphalon has an amazing selection of well built utensils and this makes a great, practically all-in-one, starter set in addition to specific kitchen utensils you may also want/need like measuring cups, peeler and specific food utensils.Other recommendations:Measuring Cups:https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0G5QFMW75Measuring Spoons:https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0G5QDKDZDPeeler:https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0G5QFTLK1Snack Bag Clips:https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0G5Q9NCYTAs for value for the money, this is the cheapest prescription you'll ever pay for providing you with the tools necessary to prepare and enjoy healthy meals at home to support your lifestyle and longevity for you and your family and look great too!Final notes:1. To keep the stainless steel looking great for as long as possible, after washing after use, I'd dry them before putting them on the rack for air drying lessening the chance of any possible rusting in the future and keeping water stains from building up from hard water.2. Regularly apply food-grade mineral oil to keep the teak wood utensils from drying out and cracking (once a month or whenever they appear dry) and wash them right after you're done using them to prevent any food from seeping deep into the wood.3. Take care of them and they'll take care of you!

High quality cooking utensils for non stick cookware

I recently ordered a very nice non stick pan and needed a set of non metal utensils that are safe to use in it. This set of Calphalon silicone kitchen spatulas and scrapers and teak spoons will definitely do the trick. The teak spoons are thick, smooth, nicely shaped and quite large compared to my previous wooden utensils, but not too large. The spoon and spatulas are also quite large and seem solid and good quality. One point I paid particular attention to is where the silicone meets the metal handle. I have had issues in the past with silicone utensils letting in water and eventually failing at this point but these Calphalon utensils seem to have created a solid joint that will stand the test of time. One thing that really stood out to me was the edge of the silicone scraper. It is quite thin and far more functional that my previous silicone scraper. I don't know how this thin edge might affect the longevity of the utensil but as far as use new from the box, it is definitely superior.Overall, I am very impressed with this product and would highly recommend it. At $50, it is not a cheap set of utensils but given that it comes with 7 good quality, highly usable products, at $7.14 apiece this is a reasonable price for high quality cookware. I expect to get many years of use from this product while protecting my investment in my nonstick pan.
