Time to rejoice while replacing my worn out knives.

I have a small frame and very small hands, so kitchen knives can be cumbersome to use. Cangshan is a fairly new provider of fine knives, and their Apertivo line fits very well into the mid-range pricing tier. Made with German steel, these knives are forged by skilled blacksmiths. What really sold me was the workhorse chef's knife and the santoku knife. One is great for the 'rocking chop,' and the other for the 'push cut.' I am trained with Asian knives, so relearning the chef's knife skill has been fun. The knife block, made of eco-friendly bamboo, is heavy and sturdy, which is another safety plus in a busy kitchen during meal prep.

Worth every penny.

This is a very nice knife set.  We have been using it for a couple months now and this is daily use.  So far they are keeping a good edge and overall perform as expected in this price ranges.  My only complaint is that it seems like the knife block is a little oversized for the amount of knives it holds.  I would prefer it to come properly sized or have extra slots to add more knives later.

Versatile Knife Set

I have other Cangshan knives and they’re always great quality, this set is no different. The knives are all full tang with very sharp blades forged from German steel – as imprinted on each blade; the set also includes a good pair of kitchen scissors and a steel honing rod.The bamboo knife block that comes with the set is nice…I like the shape, and the various natural shades/tones, it has a modern look. I also like the grey-ish white tone of the handles however I do think they should have been of higher quality than they feel and look. The handles feel plasticky, and the handle on the serrated utility knife in my set has sharp bumps that likely resulted from a manufacturing/QA issue; I’ll have to sand those down since they’re in an area of the handle that would affect my holding the knife comfortably to use it. That aside, the other knives are fine, no perceptible imperfections.From a price point perspective, if the handles were of better quality I’d say the set is priced fair, but in light of their inferior quality I think the cost of the set could be a little less. I still do like the set overall, though, and will make use of the knives in my collection.

A very sharp set of knives

First, read the description closely. I purchased this to replace my 20-year-old knife set, which included six steak knives. This one is very complete in terms of cooking, preparation, and carving, but it doesn't include knives to take to the dinner table. This isn't a ding on the quality of the knives, just the lack of table knives.These are very sharp out of the box. I used them to carve a beautiful brisket last weekend, and it sliced easily. After dinner, I put the knife in the dishwasher and it emerged clean and good as new. The knives look great, have 'weight' to them, so they are made of good quality materials. The block is also attractive.Despite the lack of dinner knives, I love this set.

Look great on the counter

Loving this new knife set.I'm glad I went with this one that does not included steak knives, it takes up less of a foot print on the counter looks really nice. I live the vertical setup and the white hanfmdles look good with the bamboo.The knives really sharp as expected and so far seem to hold up really well to general use as well as running through the dishwasher.Very happy with them and would definitely recommend.
