Fantastic offset bread slicer!

I didn't see any benefit to spending the extra money on the Naka offset bread slicer since most of the benefits of great steel are curtailed by serrated edges, but I wanted a knife that would look similar to match the Naka knives that I had. This one was everything I needed (plus being an inch shorter than the Naka bread slicer helped because it fit on my spinning knife block). It looks very similar and performs great for a fraction of the cost!

Sharp and aesthetically pleasing.

Beautifully made knife. I love the arched handle so you do not hit your knuckles on the cutting surface. The blade is super sharp right out of the box and the white handle pops against my other knives. My favorite bread/serrated knife.

Cuts surprisingly well

I have to say that when I saw this had the NSF stamp on the package, I was a bit surprised. It’s a beautiful knife, but it just didn’t seem like a knife I’d use in a professional kitchen (we don’t usually use pretty things). It isn’t really well balanced between handle and blade and the steel is somewhat thinner than a professional kitchen knife, but man, this cuts so nice! It really does a fantastic job, doesn’t tear your bread at all, has a great look to it, and is super sharp. It would make a really nice gift for the bread lover in your life. I definitely recommend it!

Excellent bread knife

Until now I've never owned a quality bread knife; for whatever reason, while I've been gradually building a decent collection of knives for other kitchen tasks, I'd been muddling along with the flimsy 'part of a bargain set with its own knife block' thing that my husband owned before I met him.Well, that has now ended, because I am now the proud owner of this beauty. And a beauty it is. It's a lovely knife, with a full tang and an offset blade. The handle has a good weight to it, so that the knife is perfectly balanced in my hand. The fact that the blade is offset (i.e. the handle is higher than the blade) means you can cut all the way down to the bottom of a loaf of bread without the handle bumping into the cutting board; you can also cut food that's on a plate without the handle banging into the rim of the plate.The serrated blade is wonderfully sharp while being thick enough that it's not flexible or remotely flimsy. It cuts quite effortlessly through crusty loaves, which is a welcome change from the workout I need to put in when using our old bread knives. It also leaves you with a properly-sliced piece of bread, instead of the ragged, jagged mess that you can end up with when using a cheap bread knife.To say I'm pleased with this knife is an understatement; bread knives are an afterthought in this house no more!

High quality bread and slicing knife, offset handle makes it easy to use on a cutting board.

This bread knife is offset meaning that the blade is offset down from the plane of the handle. See the photos to see what I mean. One of the photos has a normal bread knife alongside this one so you can clearly see the difference. The blade is German steel and the weight and balance of the knife is very good. The fit and finish of the handle scales is perfect. It has a full tang for strength. I am sure it could be used to slice roasts or any other food you would normally use a serrated knife on, and the serrations come extremely sharp. Slicing through crusty bread was no issue whatsoever. This knife would also make a nice gift and is shipped in a box suitable for wrapping and gifting. Note the comparison photos which show me holding this knife against a bread board, and a similar photo showing me holding a regular bread knife. This knife is elegant, yet utilitarian, and is an excellent value.

Very good knife.

I just started making homemade bread this year, including sour dough bread which can be quite crusty. I thought I had a good bread knife until I got this one. My previous knife squashed the bread a little and made a ton of crumbs. This knife goes through it clean and effortlessly. There is no squishing and very few crumbs. It feels good in my hands, and it is easy to use. It is long enough to work in my bread slicing guide. This is my 4th bread slicing knife, and it is my absolute favorite. The hunt for the perfect knife is over. When I use it, I clean it immediately, so it is always ready for the next use. Great Knife!!

My favorite bread knife for sure

In the past, I did not understand why some bread knives needed an offset handle. That was until I got a set from Whustof and slammed my knuckles into the cutting board while slicing a loaf of bread. Switch over to this Cangshan bread knife a few month later and I no longer am hurting myself. The knife itself is very sharp and balanced nicely against the handle. This is not my first Cangshan knife so I already knew to expect a quality product. I definitely recommend this to others.
