Exceptional sharp blades for the price
Okay confession time. I’ve had the same set of kitchen knives for about 30 years. The set has worked well, but even a good set of knives will need to be replaced at some point. I’ve tried several knives in the past and though I initially liked them, but after several uses and dullness set in, I never could get them back to their original sharpness. Maybe it is me and maybe its because I refuse to spend hundreds of dollars on a few knives. I’d like to have a German set of good kitchen knives, but I can’t quite make that leap.I found this set on Amazon Vine. As a reviewer I want to point out that I got this set for an honest review.What drew me to these knives was the possibility of having a decent set of knives without taking out a second mortgage. I also liked the idea of having the wood block in a drawer instead of on my kitchen island as I do now.They arrived quickly and just as quickly I unboxed them and put them to use.Pros: The wood block is sturdy and heavy. This is a solid piece of wood. The knives are beautiful. They are lighter than I would expect. I’m not knocking this, as I don’t know enough about steal to understand if this is a good or bad thing. I am used to heavier knives, but I will get used to them. I picked the 11 inch, what I call the Pirate knife, as it has a curved end, to try. I was a little disappointed to see that there is no 10 or 7 inch chef knife in this set. Any good cook knows that if you want to test a knives sharpness, you grab a tomato. The less juice released, the sharper the knife. Wow was I impressed! The knife cut the tomato and everything else I tried like butter. This is one of the best knives that I have tried in a long time. Even my go-to Thomas knife is not this sharp. As you can see from the pictures, I was cutting up vegetables for a salad. I had a lot of fund slicing thru everything as if cutting warm butter.Cons: The specs on the website says the block sits at 3.4 inches. This is not true. I measured the block after putting the knives in and found the measurements to be 4 inches. This means in order to put them in a drawer, one would have to have a drawer at lest 4.5 inches deep. Right now I have the knives sitting on a counter near my stove. Not an ideal place but for now it will have to do. Honestly, I will end up putting the knives in a drawer minus the block. But without protectors on the blades this too is less than ideal. As I said before, I am disappointed that a basic chef knife is not included in this set. Blade protectors would have been a nice added bonus.Overall I would recommend this set if you are looking to add to your kitchen knife collection or just starting your cooking journey and want some well made knives without spending your entire budget on a knife set. I also recommend you measure your drawers before buying the set or be prepared to display them on a counter.

Typical Excellence of Most Cangshan Knives
As I cook from scratch in our country kitchen on a daily basis for the most part, I use a variety of knives for different purposes. I own multiple sets of Cangshan knives, and they've never disappointed. These knives are an excellent combination of form and function, being both beautiful but exceptional at cutting. If there was one thing I would change about them, it's not the knives themselves. But rather the way that they're marketed on Amazon. The "sharpness" of a knife boils down to the bevel of a blade. That is to say, the angle in degrees of each side of the edge of a blade. When a knife manufacturer provides you with that information on the product page, you know in advance just how sharp it is (surgical scalpel sharpness, Japanese sushi knife sharp, or run of the mill German block kitchen knives from your local walmart). So it would have been a plus if Cangshan provided that info to potential customers. Otherwise, a very nice set in a totally giftable package that anyone from a novice cook to a pro chef could appreciate.

Sharp but lightweight - Overpriced
The blades on these knives are very sharp and are made from German steel. They are nice looking and most of the knives have a hollow handle and the blade stops at the handle. The fork is especially light and not sure of it's durability.This really does throw off the balance of the blade. Maybe because they're calling these BBQ knives, they're meant to be lightweight. I don't know, but they cut quite well.I'd like the drawer style butcher block it comes with for storage. At $150, find them a bit overpriced. Enough to take a star because of it.I will update the review after several months of use let you know how the edges hold up over time.

A beautiful professional level knife
These knives are made from a good quality steel and come extremely sharp out of the box. I tested using the chef's knife cutting thick vegetables, i.e. butternut squash, apples and potatoes and some beef steaks. All were easily cut with the knife's thin profile blade. The knife feels very light in the hand and has a nicely shaped handle that is very comfortable While I prefer a knife with a little more heft, my wife loved the feel in her hand and found it much easier to use than some of my other heavier chef knives. She found the balance of the knife worked very well for her. The knife block is nicely constructed and fits well in a drawer in our food prep area. These are a great knife set at a very reasonable price.

Very Nice Knife set
This is a very nice knife set to give a couple starting out or a nice wedding gift. Knifes are sharp and have a nice edge. I prefer plastic handles but the metal handles have a good feel and are easy to grip and hold. Very nice assortment or knifes so I believe you would need to buy only a cleaver and you have all the knifes you will need. We will see how long they keep there edge, at this moment impressed and a high quality set of knifes at this price point.
