Good for beginning canners

I bought this kit as a beginner at canning. It should have come with instructions on how to use all the utensils. I had to look it up online. Also, the black labels came with the kit but without a white chalk pen to write on the labels. I had to look up what kind of pen to use with the labels and where to buy one. The pen should have been included also. That's why I gave this kit 4 stars.

Wonderful!

These utensils reminded me of canning with my mom and grandma! For me it was really easy! I got the results that I was looking for except the recipe that I used was a bit sweet for me. I canned some pears from my tree and they came out a bit sweet for my taste. That may be because I have been changing my eating habits. Anyhoo, I think that a beginner will be able to use these utensils with ease. The magnet really helps with not burning your fingers/hands when taking the lids out of the water. The beginner canner may need to practice using the utensil that helps take the jars out of the water. We didn't have those back in the day but they really come in handy when that water is boiling hot. The Ball book on canning really gives great ideas on canning things that when I was young, I had no idea that you could can. My mom told me that her grandma used to can the same things. I'm excited about this spring!!! Happy Canning!
