I picked up this canvas tote for my 11-year-old daughter because she is constantly buried in a book. My girls are 11 and 13, and finding something they actually like can be a challenge, but this one landed well. I am giving it five stars because it is a sturdy, practical piece of gear that does its job without falling apart, and it made my daughter happy.What I like about the bag is the heavy-duty canvas. It doesn't feel like some flimsy rag you'd get at a grocery store checkout. It has some real weight to it, which is important because she tends to lug around three or four thick novels at a time. The embroidery patches are a nice touch too. They aren't just cheap screen prints that will flake off after a month. They give the bag some character that fits her personality perfectly. It is a good size for her to throw her books in along with whatever else she needs for the day.If I had to find a dislike, the white or off-white color is a bit of a magnet for dirt. Well-built bag for a reader.
The bag is sturdy and quite attractive: though I'm partial to a good font and this one is very aesthetically pleasing to me.I haven't tried the iron-ons because I don't like them, but it's a stylistic choice rather than an issue with their appearance. I just like my bag looking less cluttered.It's a good-sized bag, and has a nice expandable bottom. I can store large books, and even a laptop, in it. I like that the handles are attached pretty far down, adding some stability.The tiny outer pocket is also a bonus. There is no way to seal the bag: no zipper or snap, but I don't expect one with a canvas tote. However, if that'll change your mind, now you know what "features" are included.The handles don't chafe, but I WAS wearing a shirt with sleeves on it. It might make a difference if you wear a tank top.
