Worth the buy.
I haven't cooked a lot on it but the wok is very well constructed. Food does not stick. High heat tolerance. Very cool pan.

I haven't cooked a lot on it but the wok is very well constructed. Food does not stick. High heat tolerance. Very cool pan.
Excellent Wok at first. Heats very well, and it doesn't seem to have hot spots that make the food stick and burn where the flame hits. When seasoned and heated properly during cooking, it becomes properly non stick like any well seasoned carbon steel wok should. Before first use I've washed thoroughly with soapy water and sodium bicarbonate to remove the factory seasoning (I don't know what oil they used for seasoning), and I've re-seasoned the Wok myself with high smoke point sunflower oil. It remained fully non stick after this process, and cooking with it was a pleasure.I'll use it for a few months to see how well it holds for prolonged (home) use.
I am beyond happy with this Wok! It heats up incredibly fast and evenly. You can feel the quality right out of the box. The tripole nitrided treatment is a total game-changer... it is surprisingly easy to clean, and I'm not worried about rust at all. This has become my go-to pan for everything and just makes cooking more fun. If you're looking for a high-performance, low-maintenance... for carbon steel wok, this is it. Five stars!
First of all, the pan needs to have the handle installed but the handle would not fully seat. Second, after following instructions I have used the panel several times with disappointing results. Food definitely will stick. When it does you cannot clean the burnt remnants…I have tried with non-metal scrubbers to no avail.UPDATE: After several cycles of boiling a water/vinegar mix and a lot of scrubbing I was able to remove the burnt-on residue. I then used the seasoning method other wok manufacturers suggest. I repeatedly (5 or 6 times) applied vegetable oil and applied high heat until the oil smoked for about one minute. After cooling I wiped the wok of residual oil and repeated. The wok developed a rich patina and has been performing well since
Its well made, but its too thin to heat evenly and it warps slighly. Its non stick properties is quiet good even at first try. After using it regularly, I'm satisfied.
I’ve used half a dozen times and zero sticking and easy cleanup. As durable as cast iron but much lighter, and as non stick as teflon “non stick” pans without any of the drawbacks. Research the benefits of triple nitrided carbon steel pans like this one (carbon nonstick essentially) you will likely never need to buy and throw away another regular “non stick” pan again.
As far as this wok goes, so far it seems to be pretty decent: the included seasoning is reasonably nonstick if your someone who doesn’t want to have to do the seasoning themselves, wood handle is removable if you wanted to use it in an oven, there’s a metal loop so you can easily hang up the wok on a hook if you’d like. Weight and thickness of the carbon steel are pretty standard and heating performance is what I would expect. Included lid is nice, but it’s an odd choice to have a brown and somewhat dark tint that makes it impossible to properly tell what level of browning you currently have on what you’re cooking or frying.Price, however, is the first major issue. This is priced at about twice what you’d pay for Cuisinart, and just shy of a premium brand like Zwilling or even All Clad, known brands with good warranties. The warranty on this? Who knows, since it tells you to contact them for support at myarmorbear(dot)com, but you can try visiting that site yourself and you’ll see that it doesn’t exist. In fact, it seems the real brand is a Chinese company called Dumik, since the “Dumik Tripole” branding on the handle doesn’t mean anything and if you search around you’ll find this exact wok being sold as a Dumik brand item on Chinese marketplaces. This is a Chinese product through and through, not Japanese as the “Japanese wok” in the Amazon product title claims, nor is “DUMIK TRIPOLE” Japanese as the description claims.2.5 stars due to being very overpriced and questionable (at best) marketing, but I guess we’ll round it up to a 3 since the wok itself functions alright if you know what to expect and how to use and maintain a carbon steel wok.
