Well made and the right size.

I'm retired and the children have moved on. Thus we don't need to be making huge meals any more. My other dutch oven is an 8 quart and if I was using that instead I would tend t make larger meals that would end up being tossed in a day or two. Of course you all know that cast iron is one of the best cooking metals as it distributes and retains heat evenly. Having the oven coated makes clean up a breeze. The weight is the one downfall of cast iron but it's a trade off that I'm still willing to make. my wife make sour dough bread in this. I make a pot of chili and the size is just right so I don't make too much. Of course cast iron is exceedingly durable and if properly cared for will last generations. Lastly, we just moved into a new beach house and the light blue actually fits our decor very nicely. All said, this was an excellent purchase at a reasonable price that you won't get from the "name brand" and really what's the difference?

Color Me Impressed. High Quality Enameled Cast Iron Dutch Oven at a Mid-Range Price

What I Like:1. I've owned many, many cast iron enameled pots over the years, from multiple brands. This Dutch oven by Carote is among the nicest.2. The factory packaging was designed with care, to keep the enamel from damage during shipping. I have had some pots arrived with chips, so I appreciate the care taken here.3. The inner lid is designed with raised dots. Learned recently this design allows the lid to collect steam, turn to back to water so it drips into to the pot, to help keep your contents from drying out.4. The lid fits well. Very well. Gold tone knob looks rich.5. The pot is heavy, to me, but I'm 65 and my hands/wrists are weak. I am saying, however, this is a quality piece. I estimate the lid and pot weigh about 10 lbs.6. I've used the pot 3 times since I unpacked it. Everything I've cooked has turned out well: 16 bean soup, roast chicken, and beef stew. Everything turned out tender and moist, but the key is to cook 'low and slow'.7. The pot is easy to clean. Most food reside slides right off the enamel with a sponge. These pots will burn food, and that can take a bit more work to remove, but it will come off, but might stain the enamel. If you see staining, no worries, it's called 'seasoning' and is normal over time.8. I've 'dinged' the ot with the lid a time or two (did I mention this cookware is heavy? :p ) but no chips. I'm nt saying that's enough of a test to declare the Carote finish 'chi resistant', but I can say for sure that I've hit other cast iron enamel pots with their lids, perhaps even not as hard, and those pots did chip, so...9. The price at time of review is $45. I think that's an excellent bargain, because I've bought a few cast iron enamel pieces that cost under $50, and I do feel this Carote pot is the best of that lot by a mile.10. Part of the quality is the thickness of both the cast iron (walls are thicker than a few I've owned) and the thickness and quality of the enamel finish. I'm seriously impressed by this pot at this price. Buy any other same sized cast iron enameled Dutch oven at this same price and you'll see right away the Carote pot s the better quality pot.What I Dislike:0. No issues, 1 note:The Macaron Blue is a true French blue, not a drop of aqua in the shade. This is not a complaint, just sayin'. You can see from my pic on my stove my aqua toaster off to the left. So you know.

Beautiful and Versatile Sky Blue Dutch Oven!

Per AI’s definition: A Dutch oven is a versatile, heavy, lidded pot which is used for searing and frying to braising, stewing, baking bread, and slow-cooking soups and roasts, thanks to its thick walls that distribute and retain heat evenly, moving easily from stovetop to oven.First, this is GORGEOUS. It is an ‘enameled’ Dutch oven, and I love the sky-blue color. My pictures do not do the color justice. It looks just like the seller's picture. It just makes me happy so I keep it on the stovetop for now so I can just admire it. It has a beautiful gold handle on top of the pot as well.So far, it’s been used to sear tuna for an ahi tuna appetizer, cook chickpeas for homemade hummus, and to make lentil soup. It sears beautifully but where this item really shined was in the cooking of the hummus and the lentils. They tend to not always cook evenly and get stuck to the bottom of the pot. I forgot about the chickpeas cooking and was pleasantly surprised when I came back and they had not burned to the bottom.I never thought retaining heat evenly would be something I could taste but it is! The texture of both the chickpeas and the lentils was even throughout the pot, which honestly made the quality of the hummus and the soup better. I know that sounds crazy but it truly tasted fresher. I cannot wait to use it for mashed potatoes!This pot was also very easy to clean and eliminated the scrubbing needed to get burnt-on food off the bottom of the pan.It's an incredibly versatile item. I’m dedicating this pan to my soups, stews, potatoes, and will be making some sourdough bread in it! I tried searing in it and it was great but I don’t eat a lot of meat so I’ll leave the searing to the cast-iron skillet and the roasting to my roaster BUT if you don’t own a cast-iron skillet or a roasting pan you won’t need one as this Dutch oven will work for most of what you would cook in them. #spacesaver!This was very easy to clean and eliminated the scrubbing needed to get burnt-on food off the bottom of the pan. It is well-made and seems to withstand stirring and scrubbing but do skim the directions for using it so you know how to care for it and are aware that the handles get very hot.For the price you seriously could not do any better than this. As for the look of it… BEAUTIFUL! Highly Highly Recommend.
