I like this bread pan

Thought i would give this bread pan a try instead of using my round cast iron Dutch oven. It was packaged well and did not seem to have any damage upon arrival. I washed it and reseasoned like the instructions said. I have baked two loaves in it so far and they both turned out well. I would recommend this bread pan to anyone who does not want to spend a lot of money on the more expensive one. I cannot say how it compares to more expensive ones since I do not own any other bread pans. From having other cast iron, all I can say is that if you take care of them they will out live you.

Preseasoned? Kind of...

I ordered this cast iron bread pan with lid because I'm a cast iron fan, and I like versatile pieces. This cloche-style can be a bread pan, a grill pan/ skillet (just the bottom), a dutch oven (the lid is flat, so it can be used "upside down").The pan arrived a little beat up—could have used better packaging—but not broken or damaged, although the included metal Dutch whisk did scratch the heck out of the inside of the lid because it was packaged loose inside. The pan is heavy (a good thing). The lid fits well. The handles of the lid are angled differently from the handles of the base. Oh, my gosh, it's necessary—I have a cast iron pan and lid with handles that sit right atop each other, and it's almost impossible to grip just the hot lid handles to lift it off.The price seems right in line with other cast iron bread pans of similar size and shape. Also included, in addition to the whisk, were two natural loofah and an instruction booklet. I have never cleaned my cast iron with a loofah, but I can see how it would be fine. The pan is listed as pre-seasoned, and it is... kind of. It isn't "raw" cast iron, but it's not ready to be used right out of the box, either. It's really grubby from traveling mostly loosely in a shipping box, so it needs washing (as would anything new—not criticizing that), and after that I'll season it. The instruction book does say on page 3 that after unpacking, the pan should be cleaned and then "pre-seaso[ed]" in preparation for first use. It gives stove-top instructions, but I recommend seasoning cast iron in the oven, repeating the process several times to achieve true non-stick seasoning. This takes some time, and we are currently right in the middle of the Christmas season, so that's on hold for now... but after I've completed it, if the pan has any problems, I'll come back and update this review.

Take your bread making to the next level.

I’ve been baking sourdough and artisan breads at home for years, and after trying various Dutch ovens and makeshift setups, I decided to give the AQOVER Heavy-Duty Pre-Seasoned Cast Iron Bread Pan a shot, especially since it’s marketed as a more affordable alternative to the high-end Challenger style pans. This thing is a fairly heavy; 15 lbs of solid cast iron with a lid that fits snugly like a cloche. I seasoned the pans per the instructions, quick and easy and ready to bake within 30 minutes. The surface felt smooth and ready to go, and I didn’t experience any sticking issues on my first few loaves (just a light dusting of rice flour on the dough as usual). The heat retention and even heat distribution are excellent. I preheat the pan in the oven at 475°F for about 45 minutes, drop in my proofed sourdough batard or boule, cover it, and bake for 25-30 minutes covered, then uncover for another 15-20 to get that deep caramelized crust. The lid traps steam perfectly, giving me fantastic oven spring and those big, blistered ears I used to struggle for. No more gummy bottoms or pale crusts, every loaf comes out with a crisp, crackly exterior and an open, airy crumb. The handles are nice and easy to grab the oven easily with oven mitts; the handles are bent in an opposing manner, allowing for ease of removing whichever pan is on top. Another couple of points of convenience are the included dough whisk and cleaning loofahs (that a new one for me but they are surprisingly effective at cleaning the oven gently).I feel like a got quite the value for my money considering the excellent quality of my bread and the versatile uses this Dutch oven serves.2 👍👍

I'm amazed at the results

I've been making my own sourdough bread for awhile and it is good but doesn't always come out the way I'd like it to. I have been using a baking stone but I have not tried a cast iron bread pan like this. Not having used a pan like this i read and followed the directions for pre-seasoning the pan. For my first loaf I mixed up a basic dough - flour, yeast and water. I have never had a dough rise so little as this one. After extending the rise time it had barely doubled in size and I thought about tossing it but decided to give it a try anyway. After baking 20 minutes I took the cover off and was amazed at the plump loaf sitting in the pan. After giving it another 15 minutes bake time with the cover off I had a nice looking loaf that was far better than what I had expected from what I thought was a lousy dough. My second loaf was my regular sourdough and again the results exceeded expectations. I had a little trouble transferring the dough to the pan so I didn't get a uniform a loaf as I wanted but the crust was good, the crumb was good and it actually has taste unlike commercial loaves.Unlike some comments, I had no issues with the condition of the pan when I received it. I found no scratches, no rust spots and it looked like I could use it as received but I did a pre-seasoning anyway. For the next loaf I'm going to use parchment paper to make the transfer from proof to baking pan easier, otherwise, I am very pleased with the way this pan bakes my bread.
