Could not wait to use this awesome cutting board!
I received this heavy duty checkered cutting board by Sprbriolsm this morning, and WOW! It’s so much nicer than expected. Especially for less than $40 price point! This is not a cheap faux wood cutting board. It’s made of thick Acacia Wood & Rubber Wood, both of which are naturally moisture resistant. With good care, it feels like it is sure to last for years. The board arrived in a nice factory box, and was completely sealed in shrink wrap to protect it. It was certainly a nice enough presentation to simply wrap and offer as a wedding gift or house warming gift. Per the instructions, I removed the plastic wrap & thoroughly washed the board front & back with mild soapy dishwater. The rinse water sheeted right off of the board, as if it had an invisible waterproof coating (as seen in my video review clip). I towel dried the board, and immediately set to using it for cutting vegetables for homemade pasta sauce. My knives are new, and they are scalpel sharp! I totally expected to see a lot of slice marks in the cutting board when I was finished prepping dinner. To my surprise the board still looked new! For review photos, I had to tilt the board to get good lighting and really zoom my camera to capture the nearly microscopic cut marks in the cutting boards surface. I diced tomatoes, onions, celery, and zucchini today… and there was no trace of stains from veges, no odors, or evidence of use after the board was washed & dried. I can’t say that I’ve ever had the same odor free & stain-free experience with my previous cheap plastic cutting boards! This wooden cutting board surely seems like it will be more sanitary & quicker cleanup after cutting fresh veges.I love the checkered butcher block design, and I think it will look great permanently parked on the counter next to our stovetop. The non-slip rubber feet on the bottom of the cutting board held the board securely in place while in use, and I like that the feet will keep the board slightly elevated off the counter approximately 1/4”. This will be helpful if I accidentally set the cutting board on a wet surface, because the board will not be laying directly in moisture for an extended period of time. I had slight concern about the 1/8” wide staples used to attach the rubber feet, instead of wood screws. However, after considering that some people may want to remove the feet (to make both sides of the board useful), I’d much rather have tiny pin holes left where staples pierced the wood, rather than 4 giant screw holes that would be quite obvious once the feet were detached.Overall, this is a beautiful & expensive looking cutting board. The construction, quality, functionality, and appearance definitely makes it a 5 star item to me! Great product. Recommended.
