A new version of an old favorite
I've had a metal version (VERY similar) to this grater since the 1970's. Since my original has nearly disintegrated - it was time for some new equipment in the kitchen!This little rotary grater does it's job quite well, in spite of the plastic construction, it is actually rather rigid. When applying grip pressure 'excessively' while grating cheese, there isn't any twisting or distortion of the fame or the circular housing in relation the the grating drum itself.There is a shortcoming of this device - if the product I'm grating is very pliable/soft, it gets in between the drum and the pressure pad and kinda jams up. This is a part of the design itself, not particularly a fault of this grater.A strong example of this would be Monterey jack cheese (known to be a soft cheese of course) This grater can handle MJ in a very cold state but will seriously jam up if I'm not very careful, resulting in a cheese 'crumble' as opposed to shredding.Simple solution? Yes, chill soft foods in the back of your refrigerator or put in the freezer for about 10 minutes...and work fast when you do go to grating!For all other foods like potatoes, carrots and even pieces of ham (salad topping) this grater is a real rock star.There are 2 rotary drums included that easily thread onto the hand crank and are easy to clean. I have no fault with the build quality at all with respect to its operational limits.Yes, I would buy this again.This device lacks the rigidity of a steel framed model, but it does a great job as an adjunct to an electric food processor if I'm grating a lot.

Trash 🗑️
It broke after a month of light use 🤦🏼♀️ The grater cylinder part fell apart while attached to the handle. Now the handle is stuck in the position to crank, but we can’t get it loose to try and salvage the contraption.It was not the easiest to use, as it was weird to hold and turn. But now that it is broken, it will just be trashed 👎 Would not recommend, buy a more expensive one that will last.

The grater works great and the blade is sharp—it makes grating cheese fast and easy. However, the handle broke within 60 days, even with gentle use and hand washing. Disappointed in the durability, especially since the rest of the product performs well.

Wish I bought this sooner
Great product - very light weight which might feel cheep at first, but it's surprisingly sturdy! I love the 2 grading options. It is SUPER easy to use, to switch out wheels and surprisingly easy to clean! More often than not I just rinse it under the faucet - not wiping required. I hope this is helpful

Was cheap, feels cheap, is cheap!
I’ve been reading some articles about the anti-caking agents used in bags of pre-shredded cheese and decided to start shredding my own.I selected this one because it was similar to a device I had many years ago. It’s important to me that it’s dishwasher safe and I liked that it could be converted for right or left handed users as we have both in my family.Upon receipt I was disappointed to feel how lightweight it was. It’s been through the dishwasher a few times, but it’s hard to imagine that the force required to squeeze and grind cheese will hold up over the long run, especially with high heat exposure. As of the first use the knob keeps popping off the handle when I’m trying to turn it which is extremely annoying - the device is clunky and not smooth at all to operate. Does it shred cheese? Yes. Has it shattered in my hands yet? No. So it keeps a couple stars.I’ll keep using this one until it breaks or until my patience finally runs out and I upgrade because I have a low tolerance for inefficient kitchen gadgets taking up space.(If you look at my reviews I tend to be pretty forgiving, but I take my weekly cheese pizzas and nacho construction really seriously and this was unacceptably disappointing.)
