I have only used it for cheese so far, but it worked great for that purpose.I placed the unit on a granite counter, and while holding it steady with one hand, I twisted the suction cup switch to locked with the other. It stuck like it had been bolted down. Perfect!I installed the large hole grater to do 3x 8 oz blocks of cheese (a white cheddar, yellow cheddar, and gruyere), and attached the handle (the one part that is a bit fiddly, but not too difficult)I did a single 8 oz block for my first test. It chewed through it easily, with no major effort needed to turn the crank, taking less than a minute at a leisurely pace.I then tested to see if I could fit two of the 8 oz blocks into the feed chute at the same time. Two of them fit perfectly. Cranking took slightly more effort, but was still very easy.I then swapped over to the fine grater blade, and did about 4 oz of block parmesan. Worked like a champ.I have not tried the other two blades yet, but have no reason to think they would not work just as well.One tip: the more pressure applied to the product as you feed it into the grater, the thicker the end result will be (and vice versa). If you like light, thin pieces of grated cheese (often called "fancy" on pre-shredded products), apply light pressure. If you prefer thicker pieces with some substance, just apply more pressure when you feed in the block. Fair warning on grating thin, "fancy" style though... that stuff can stick together like glue. It makes it quite difficult to sprinkle over stuff, since it wants to ball up. Thicker grated pieces are much easier to deal with.But back to the unit itself, it's fantastic. Works exactly as it should, chews through cheese like a champ, is pretty easy to assemble, disassemble, and clean, and is simply a great little gadget for the money.

I absolutely LOVE the grater. It comes with (4) different grating cones that lets you grate everything from chocolate to ice. We make a lot of home made pizzas and shredding the cheeses by hand took forever and someone always got hurt, but after using this Rotary Grater there was no injuries and it was as so fast! The kids now happily volunteer to help. Best part is the clean up., it's so easy!!! I'd highly recommend! I bought the red one and it's wonderful.

Love this little grater!
I have never had one of these types of cheese grater before, always just using the box grater and risking my fingertips every time I needed to grate something. But then my kids got super into homemade macaroni and cheese, and I decided to save my hands and upgrade!I LOVE that it suctions itself to the counter, so I’m not trying to fight it to stay still while I’m also rotating a handle. So far we’ve only used the larger grater, for shredded cheese, but it seems very sharp, and makes quick work of a pound of cheese! I like that the body itself is clear, so I can tell if there’s cheese stuck inside. It can be either dish washed or hand washed, so clean up is a breeze!Overall I’m very satisfied with this grater and now my fingertips and I no longer dread the kids asking if I will make Mac ‘n’ cheese!

Pleasantly surprised with how well it worked. Easy to put together and easy to clean. I love the way the cheese shreds. The only con is the suction. I shredded 3 1/2lbs of cheese within 10 min and had to resuction it 3x. I will say make sure the counter top is free of seasoning. I learned reside of seasoning was on the countertop causing it to not suction properly. Overall this is a great value for your money. Hands down better than buying pre shredded cheese and 100x better than shredding by hand. Just get it. You won’t regret it.

Good enough for shredding but not grating
Good enough to use. Doesn't break down, so it's a bit harder to clean. Otherwise, it works for what it is. It does not grate though. Smaller shreds with the smallest attachment, not grating.
