Exactly what I was looking for!
I received one for Christmas, and found it to be useful for small food items. However, after a few uses, the handle broke. I thought okay, we can file the rough edge and still use it. The very next time I used it, I noticed the surface had a bubble it it. Trash. Ordered another identical one. Hand washed it, no problem. By the time I picked it up to dry it had several bubbles in it. Returned. Sometimes you get what you pay for.
This is a lightweight, inexpensive spatula and my husband loves it. He was trying to scrape something off a pan recently and a corner broke but all he did was file and sand it straight across and he continues to use it in its new shortened form. He recommends it.
I have a similar spatula that I've used for years. It's my favorite. I wanted to get a backup just in case. Well, this thing looks similar, that's it. It's flimsy, and the handle is probably half the thickness of my original one. If I try scraping a pan with it, it just might break, both the spatula part and the handle. I paid too much for this dollar store quality item. I take that back, I think a dollar store item would be sturdier. It was also packed loose in a 6x6x14 box, I'm estimating, and I thought it was broken before I opened the box, it rattled around so much. I'm thinking of returning it. I can't use it!
The product photo shows model 19000, but the one I got is 19006 (similar to 18806, shown on some other similar product pages. Similar but wider. It is brittle plastic, i.e. melamine, which I think is quite durable, but I'm sure it might crack, chip, or break if used as a scraper. It is not that kind of tool. However, for stirring, serving, cutting, and flipping, it is quite lovely and perfect as pictured. I can't imagine it breaking in this capacity.
Well worth the money. Light weight exactly what I need. Cleans easily.
Why did you pick this product vs others?:I wish I would have taken a picture of how bad this thing was. After the VERY FIRST use, this white "melamine" spatula warped and stained bright yellow (and no, it wasn't curry I was cooking). We laughed about it, and continued to use it on a very limited basis. After less than four months, the thing was so badly mangled (scrabbled eggs can be rough on a spatula apparently), the loop on the end cracked and then broke off, and finally the handle broke completely. Spend a few extra dollars and buy a REAL melamine spatula - not this cheap plastic one.Durability:CRAPQuality:Non-existant
