This product is perfect. Slices cheese precisely. It does not have a lot of bells and whistles and extra parts...but for Pete's sake, it is just a cheese slicer. It does the job just like it should. It is not expensive or complex. Buy it. Easier than using a knife or a cheese slicer that works like a guillotine.
It's tough to find just the right cheese slicer, and this one is my favorite! This is my second one. My dad got one for $5 at a store and gave it to me because I liked it so much. That was about 5 years ago and recently, the wire finally gave way. I use my cheese slicer frequently and many of them break in about a year (or year and a half if you baby them to survive just a bit longer). I know you can rewire them but I've never been able to get them tight enough to be effective once the wire breaks the first time. For me, I'd rather just buy a new one. So, I was delighted to find this same one on Amazon for even less than my dad paid for it years ago (we live across the country so I can't just go to the same store and buy one there). Happy to have my favorite cheese slicer back in the drawer!
It's a cheese slicer. I couldn't find one in a store. Amazon came through for me.
It’s of sturdy plastic and metal. I’ve used it on fairly hard cheese and washed it two times and it’s held up well. This replaced a very sturdy one that I left behind when I moved. lThis compares quite well. I would recommend hand washing and promptly drying with a towel or on a dish rack to avoid oxidation. That’s how my old one hasted so long. I’ll check back in a few months.
Seems durable enough, just wish the roller was adjustable so you could adjust thickness preference, this slices pretty thick slices.

Garbage. The construction is poor. The tension on the wire so loose it doesn't cut through a block of cheese. Returned.
