Very sharp

I am always on the search for good cooking knives and this one is quite good. The edge on this Chef's knife is extremely sharp. It cuts through meats and vegetables with ease. I have used it as my daily kitchen knife for a couple of weeks now and it has held up well. There hasn't been any edge issues or rusting from washing it daily.The blade has a brushed metal appearance to it and a full tang. Very good design for knife strength. The handle is supposed to be made of wood and does have a grain to it. I can't really tell what it is made of. It looks like wood that has been coated in epoxy. The handle is very pretty whatever it is made of. As long as the handle lasts a long time I will be plenty pleased with it. Definitely a good knife to add to the cooking arsenal in a kitchen. 5 stars.

Hard to evaluate with limited information

Almost every statement made in the text appears to be true. However, those who know knives know that there are many grades of stainless steel and they are not all equal. Simply saying "high carbon stainless steel" does not describe the quality or the characteristics of the steel in the knife. If you search for stainless steel for knives you will find at least different kinds of stainless steel for a knife.I would prefer the manufacturer would list the exact type of stainless.The knife is very sharp and a 15 degree sharpening angle is appropriate for oriental chef knives. The balance that is best will depend upon your personal preference and the size of your hands. The knife is attractive and attractively boxed. I could give it 5 stars if I had known the particular type of steel. I would want to know that before I spent $70 on a knife.

It looks great

This appears to be a great knife as you would expect for its price ($70 at the time this review is written). As soon as you hold it, you will realize the difference from the other knives. It is heavier and sharper. It is also pleasing to use it. For its quality, I would expect it to last a really long time. Of course, this is not something that I can confirm at the moment. However, I own lower quality knives that I take good care of and they have already lasted a good amount of years. Hence, if you spend a good amount of time in the kitchen, you should consider buying it.

This GAIFONGRE 8 inch Chef Knife is worth every penny. We were in desperate need of a new chefs knife and this one fits the bill. The weight is well balanced with a thin, sharp blade. The handle is made to where the grip is very comfortable and doesn't take much effort to cut. I love how sharp this was right off the bat. We have been using it to cook every meal and there has been no wear yet. Usually with cheap ones the tip warps fairly quickly. The handle does not accumulate gunk in between the blade and the top piece. It is attached with durability in mind, no wobbling.5/5

Good knife with full tang handle and good balance

This is a decent daily use knife. Nothing super special but at under $70 it's in the low (not quite budget) range. The 8" blade has classic French chef knife profile but sharpened closer to 15 degrees so more Asian than European edge. Steel seems mid hardness which will likely be a good balance between edge retention and easy sharpening. I'd say this knife would be a 5 star if priced at closer to $50-60 rather than $70.

I like the look of this knife. But, I like the knife more because it is quite sharp and ready to use from the package. The balance feels quite good and I would say this knife is a bit on the lighter side of my knives. It is not heavy but not too light either. The handle looks and feels good in the hand. This comes in a nice gift box which makes for a nice gift to your favorite chef or chef wanna-be.
