Exceptionally sharp knives, well rounded set, even has a bag and blade covers.

Everything is well represented in the official photos, as far as appearance and items included. These knives are EXCEPTIONALLY sharp out of box, and the softer Damascus steel results in a VERY sharp edge after every sharpening. Because the steel is softer than something like carbon steel, it is easier to roll the edge, therefore I try not to use them to directly chop things... But it's just so satisfying to perfectly quick chop a head of romaine into shreds in 5 seconds just by smacking it like it's a drum, and your blade is the drum stick. These knives WILL easily cut you if you're not super careful, and it's easy to cut pretty far.... I would know. The bread knife is Damascus steel of course, predictably very sharp, and performs well on things like meat as well. The 8" Chef knife is extremely versatile, and actually worked quite well for even tough bigger tasks like processing and cutting steaks from a whole top sirloin. Silver skin, fat trim, cutting the sirloin in half, all of it. The medium 7" Santoku knife is just an all around master of everyday cutting and slicing, and even the little paring knife has a wicked sharp Damascus blade, perfect for slicing apples and whatnot. The honing rod seems to work just fine, although I still need to master using those effectively. I have not used the shears or the carving fork, but I imagine they reflect the quality of the rest of the tools pretty well. The folding pattern on the steel reminded a lot of people of "shark teeth" in the way that the pattern looks like a jagged and sharp zigzag. These knives really are capable of being some of the sharpest knives I've used, and although my experience with knives is fairly limited, I always wish these knives were everywhere, and I don't really like using any other ones at my job now.Again, the softer Damascus steel allows for an EXTREMELY sharp edge at its sharpest, but that also means it's easier to dull than something like a carbon steel blade. It would likely begin to roll/dull by chopping straight up and down on a cutting board for a while. However, these knives were still the most comfortable, smooth, and sharp knives after two weeks of almost daily slicing only use and no sharpening. The handles are sleek and fairly light. The shape is mostly straight, gradually widening slightly to the base. The wood grain and color closely resemble those found on the SHUN Premier 8" knife. Grey wood with darker grain, polished and sealed. In general, the knives are light and easy to wield. Most chef knives I've handled recently have much heavier, thicker, and more "ergonomic form fitting" handles, which honestly don't suit me as well as the lighter ones found on these knives. These ones just taper a bit wider to the base.

Amazing Damascus Knife Set & Roll.

I ordered these for camping and was pleasantly surprised when I opened the box. The roll is well made, nicely made, easy to open clasps, heavy canvas material, carry strap, and obviously made to last! The knives look and feel great, well balanced which makes cutting and chopping easier and less stressful on the hand and wrist, Damascus pattern on blades looks amazing and gets the attention of guest at camp they have given compliments and asked the best question... "where did you get those," the handles look so good they stand out and fit in my hand perfectly. The knives are very sharp, slice tomatoes, onions, and other veggies without effort, bread knife doesn't smash the bread while cutting paring knife... be careful you don't knick or slice yourself it is sharp and does its job very wel,, the deburring tool has a very fine file surface almost diamond like I have not needed to use it yet but I have no doubt it will do its job much better than the average ones out there.Kitchen shears... i am impressed say the the least... when you undo the clasps on the base hold tge handles closed otherwise they spring open, these are high quality, sharp, strong, and you will get hurt if you get your finger caught in them, I have no doubt in their ability to cut through whatever I need them to.My one and only issue are the knife sheaths they are nice but... when removing a knife from the roll be sure to squeeze to sheath firmly otherwise it will slide off risking cutting yourself if your are not paying attention.Pockets for knife handles are deep with velcro straps over blades to keep everything I'm its place in the roll.In my opinion this set is high quality set and an awesome value for the cost. If you like to have a complete set of knives when traveling, camping, or on the go this set is all you need.IMHO... A knife set that poses the risk of cutting yourself easily is a knife you want to use. Please use proper handling and caution when using these at first so you don't cut yourself. As an Amazon Vine Member I always give an honest review whether or not it is good or bad. I consider reviews on Amazon to be a vital factor in making purchase decisions and hopefully my review is helpful.

Cookouts in STYLE!

I got this set as it had a case and a carving fork. I know it sounds picky but not every bbq in Colorado has the right tools for the job and I wanted to be a helpful guest! The balance on the knives are epic! In the third picture you can see a 45 degree cut on the heel of the handle and it makes all the difference in the world! Each knife has its own protective sleeve which I really like for the traveling case! All knife compartments also have a velcro strap to secure said knife in its spot! They look amazing and the Damascus steel feels VERY sharp. This set compared to other Nafang sets does have a slightly less hardness on scale but I think that is because it is a traveling set and getting bounced around. If you go to other peoples houses and are a knife snob, this is a GREAT set! If you are getting into being a chef but have not fully committed yet, this is a GREAT set for you! If you have zero space in your house and need a set to take out only for use while staying fully protected, this is a GREAT set for you!Pros: ultra sharp with protective sleevesCarrying case that is very secure!Very well balanced!Damascus steel!Great set for the price!Cons: hardness level less than what Nanfang usually puts out.Excellent bang for your buck!
